Another brilliant post, Anita! I love the definition of a true friend. They aren't a dime a dozen and when we find one, we must treasure and nurture our friendship...

I've found as I've aged, that the oldest friends...the ones from school...are the ones I share the most with. They've known us forever, haven't they? I wish we lived closer. And then, I consider my sister a dear friend too. We talk nearly every day even though she is half a country away. We shared all the same experiences as children; a bond for certain.
Our blog friends are in another category...supportive and loving, but unfortunately, distanced.
I may never meet you, Anita, but you are a treasured friend!

How could truer words be spoken, friends are the family you chose. For all the silliness, Sex in the City showed the tribe of family that a group of woman can forge and they are much stronger together than the are alone. For many of us without family or with family far far away.... friends hold us up, keep us safe and help us find light in the darkness. Bravo!

Dearest Anita,

I have been thinking of you all week.

First, I love that sparkly, grey dress on your new header; it is sheer poetry!

Second, I have a tear in my eyes as that beautiful quote about true friends catching the third tear describes perfectly my best friend. I feel so fortunate to have such a friend although sometimes, despite it being woven into our everyday lives, it is frustrating that she should live in England and I in France. We all know how real life intervenes and prevents us from meeting up as much as we should fancy.

Yes, I have been thinking of you because in your last comment on my blog you seemed perplexed about how you should fit creative time into your busy, busy teacher's life. Now I am not prone to tantrums but there is one thing that really makes me stamp my feet is not having any time to create. Sometimes it just feels too hard to have ALL those ideas zinging around my head and so little time to put them into action. I also feel that TRUE creativity come from free time; not just one hour in the evening when you have absorbed all the strains of your day. Real art for me is free expression and free expression needs to be nourished by generous, gentle time.

Does that make sense to you?

Not easy although, naturally, I count my blessings and realise this may make me sound like a spoilt child.

I keep trying to reduce my expectations to preserve my sanity and stress levels. How do you cope?

With love,

Stephanie

Dearest Anita,

Mes enfants me donnent TELLEMENT de joie.... tellement.

Audrey Hepburn was such a rare beauty...a diamond in the rough. I was looking at the photo of the rain drops on the water and it must have been taken right as the rain drops struck the water, which is quite amazing as they all seem to be hitting the water at the same time. What I was noticing was when a water drop hits the water DEEPER after the first initial drop, the water drop turns into the shape of a crown...which someone once said shows the Creator's penmanship...His Crown, showing he is the King of all things. So, I was fascinated as to how fast the shutter must have been to NOT catch the CROWN in the rain drops.
I believe there was a Disney production years ago that showed raindrops turning into crowns. They did a slow motion film of the rain drops falling and turning into crowns. Since most of your photos were of tiara's and crowns, I thought it was fitting to mention it.
Ah, but the photos you find are always so inspiring and I sigh at the beauty that is captured in a moment of time. I can almost taste the aqua colored candy apples...they look so scrumptious!
May you, again, my dear, have an amazing week full of joy in little things.
And thank you for visiting my blog and viewing Laurewood...we are in Visalia an hour away from Fresno and an hour away from Bakersfield between the two cities.

hello lovely - fab post as always! I'm off to have a cup of tea with my bf today - always makes me smile to spend time with her!
Now, those adorable elephants are not my makes. They are made by a wonderful girl called sarah - her blog is called Northfield Primatives. Alistair asked her to make those elephants for my birthday this year (one for each boy!) and the little mouse's tag says 'team B-C' which I love.
Anyway - hope your weeks is a good one!

Ah, yes...my doll...she is so magical...I had intended to make more, but then I had the care of my husband's invalid mother take precedence over my life for almost two years...so I had to set many things aside. I am now just getting my life back to normal. I adore marionettes!
And here I come to your site today and you are playing Enya...one of my most favorite musical artist. I used to listen to Donovan in the late 60's and I loved his music! Anything from the U.K.
Music takes me away to another world...
May you have a blessed rest of the day~
many smiles and joy to you today~

A Magical Whimsy said...

Hello, dearest, Anita
It sounds like you had a frantic evening! Sorry about your computer problems...that is not fun.
And yes, when I begin making my dolls again, I do want to sell them. They are such a joy to make! And they have their own personalities which take shape, and they become 'who they are'. And I know, since I have already made one doll, which they say, the first time to make anything is the hardest...it should be a lot more simple for me to sit down and make more. And Jane Des Rosier suggests making a few bodies at and time and the process goes much faster, as one doll is in one stage, you can go on to the next stage in the process with the other dolls.
I do have two favorite doll sites:
Du Buh Du Designs (with Christine Alvarado)...her dolls are to die for! She puts her dolls in her Etsy shop and poof! They are sold like that, in an instant! And then there are Black Eyed-suzie dolls with Sarah Faber (she was married to a rock and roll star in her past life) put has moved on years ago from that point...but her dolls are Gothic/Victorian Damsel in Distress style, which I did manage to 'capture' one of her dolls as it flowed through her Etsy shop.
I will definitely let you know when I begin creating my dolls again...and I hope it is soon!
(I think I would settle on a fair price of $75 per doll). I think that is a reasonable price and comparable to most of the doll makers who have 'studied' doll making in the Cloth and Clay doll ning site and have sold their dolls.
There is so much you can do with that one doll design. The designer of the doll (or the person who is buying the doll can request what they want on a doll)such as putting mohair on the head for hair, and dress her up anyway you want to. Mohair comes in all different colors...I even have a swag of aqua mohair! (or it may be wool roving, but it is aqua!)
I hope Friday is a more relaxing day for you.

Sweet, sweet Anita
I am so terribly sorry your email is dead. I almost emailed you yesterday, but decided to post here instead and I am so glad that I did.
I am excited for you in promoting your artwork. Your style is elegantly charming! Life gets crazy, doesn't it?
Yes, Du Buh Du Designs by Christine Alvarado are dolls you will swoon for. The are flawlessly beautiful.
The first time I found out about them was about three years ago when a tragedy hit Stephaine Clark and beautiful Morman woman with four children. She and her husband Christian were in a horrific single airplane accident, where the pilot died and they were burned extensively over their bodies. Christine Alvarado made a Nie-Nie doll (which is Stephanie's blog name). I mean, the doll looked exactly like Stephanie, as she herself was a flawless beauty.
Stephanie's blog is called The Nie-Nie diaries and I was already a follower of her blog for about a month before their plane crash, so I was in shock, as were thousands of people, and donations came pouring in for the cost of their recovery. Anyway, Stephanie and her beautiful husband and children have been an inspiration to so many with this hard trial they have been through. That was a little side track from Du Buh Du Designs and how I found Christine's beautiful dolls.
Romans 8:28 I believe God's children are every where, no matter what race, creed, or belief they are in, if they believe in Him, they are his. I have a very open mind about this, as God sees the hearts of people and there is freedom in believing God cares about everyone. This is such a freeing thought and raises the joy of knowing God doesn't judge or see things as man's limited ability does. God accepts all, as Christ died for the sins of the whole world, He is not willing that any should perish.
I think of what we post sometimes, and I want to be true in what I post, as I think there is so little time left before the world falls apart and to be able to touch one soul with truth would be incredible. That is what we are here for, to help others see the light.
Just some words that are always in my heart. I have been buying a lot of items on Etsy and I have been trying to stop buying so many things! It has almost become a fetish with me to buy doll related items. So, I told myself, every time I want to buy something, to pray instead. I felt that if I am buying things more than I am praying, it may stop me from buying so much and praying instead. I think this plan may work. I felt that if I could start praying as much as I was using valuable time up to buy things, that maybe it would get me to thinking more about others and situations that needed praying about. 'Be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind' kind of thing. To focus on what I am here for and everything else will fall into place.
Have a lovely weekend, my dear, and I hope your email comes back to life.
love and hugs,
Teresa
