One of my favorites, dear sister.
What an honor it was to behold you and your magical space at the show...and then to hear the story of these three precious individuals who touched your heart...because YOU touched theirs so deeply...priceless indeed.
Love you...
The images are amazing...
And the music! :))

I was there with you at your first art show and I was so happy to see you in a venue with other artists and to know that your art brought the joy and humor of play to everyone that stopped and gasped at your work, as it always does to me. There were buyers (enough to more than pay for the costs of being in the art show), but in this economy buyers stayed with the least expensive things (e.g. remember the laid-off teacher?) you had like cards and tags. But I saw on many a face the joy and sparkle of beautiful childhood, or childhood memories. I am so proud of you, and believe that this was a good first step. Let's keeping walking.

Hi Dear Anita,
I am so proud of you for having a body of work expansive enough to put together a show. That in and of itself is a testament to your creative genius. Your works of beauty will find their way into the hearts and lives of those who have the vision to embrace the joys they may bring. Like the child, the teenager, and the old man, .... all in due time, all in due time.
Big hugs,
Patti
I believe in you.

I don't know any one else who has this gift, of writing a beautiful story {and finding the most amazing photos to tell the story) from the depths of disappointment (an art show with not many sales, been there, several times t!)

To have been touched by these souls and to see them for who they are and who they became while beholding your creations is divine!

I love how you have the heart and talent to weave these threads into a glorious tapastry of inspiration.

All my clients are children again.

That's what gardening is.

Countless checks written to me have, "Thank you" at the bottom.

More amazing is when I lecture and how many people, afterward, must-must-must tell me their garden story while grabbing my hand or arm or both.

Yes, there is something in what we do from our heart & not the money motivation. Yet, money arrives. I call it 'sideways'.

As you said, profit is subjective. Your profit was there and you realized it and accepted it.

I know many that have changed paths midstream, myself included. One of the most common expressions is "I've never had less money, nor been happier than during this time". I could not agree more.

Keep moving forward with your art. The public will catch up with you.

I thought I come here to comment again....those childrens eyes!!! Nothing so precious as that in all the world!! Will copy here what I wrote you: Thank you again, precious one. The "fun challenge" will be to find a way to make a living from it....yes, I've tried several times myself, in both small ways and big ones! One was to pack up and get rid of everything I had, bought a one way ticket to Bali, Indonesia to begin a business which I was totally confident I could do, and find a place to live somewhere out there in the world with no clue and 2 suitcases! OK???
Days later 9 11 happened and though I had to continue, my plans were thwarted for no one was allowed into Bali at that time. I went to Greece and so much has happened. I even tried a tiny home venture here making my own lotions and organic creams, perfumes and such, again!, but Florida is a very very strange place, and though everyone told me I NEEDED to sell these things, NO one bought them, cheap as I priced them. I know how challenging it is.
And so in this tragic world, yes, artists are soulful people at heart and what they do they think is for 'money' is really spiritually to keep the magic alive! LOL and so whether or not we make a living, we DO make a difference! I go through this every week, praying to find a way to make a living for myself, my situation is very tough.
Two days ago, a long time friend told me at the local fair, that I made a big difference in her life, I brought her magic and fun....since we met.....and it was soooo very good to hear this.....almost....almost.....worth living for.

My first art show was a great success! My second was a resounding failure and disappointment. But THAT led me on to bigger and better things on my own, because I had to! It's true, disappointment and failure spur us on to become what we are meant to be, through scary hard work and putting ourselves out there. So many people love your stuff, so take heart and keep on going. You can do it!!

Your photographs are just priceless. Sometimes we do things, not because they will create wealth.. but because it's what we NEED to do. Keep looking at the BIG picture and everything will come together :)

My brother is a wine maker. He doesn't make a lot of money, but he is happy. He surfs, plays the piano, loves art,.. and he enjoys the countryside and watching the grapes vines. It's a peaceful existence and it is part of HIM. So often we allow success to be determined by the what we make rather than having a purpose for what we do.

Do everything for yourself and follow your passion! You are an amazing artist and writer :)

Oh Anita,
Your posts always make me tearful - tears of joy and love. You know how much I have a soft spot for the sons in the world. They can grow up to be responsible, caring men, but I can see the little boy in them at times too. I think it got me when I saw the old man wearing the crown; such a special picture. I love the teenager with the crown. Teenagers are hard to deal with sometimes, but they are just finding their way I guess. Oh, the little boy at the end.... BE STILL MY HEART! These pictures are just perfect with your story. Did you have a nice Thanksgiving, dear? Me and the girls browsed through your shop and guess what? I couldn't resist the KINDNESS gift tags, so I bought those. I am really thinking about kindness in the world lately, as sometimes it can be very harsh. Jess loved the little red shoe Christmas ornament, so I bought that one too. I can't wait to get them in the mail. You must keep doing your art work, even if it is on the side as a hobby. Have a beautiful Sunday, sweet Anita, and I am off to see your wonderful post one more time. I have to take it all in once again.

Anita, I spent many years, trial and error, countless shows, hit and miss, feelings of rejection(because of a lack of sales), feelings of elation(upon selling a $5000 piece of art), and on and on.Every serious artist goes through this. You either keep on trying until you make yourself successful OR you move on to something else.Artists never stop creating art whether it sells or not, it is simply a part of one's being. It took me 20 years of plugging away until I found my niche in the art world. I am so glad I hung in there! But I am the first person to admit that it can be very daunting and heart wrenching at times.

I am so proud of you for having your first art show. How exciting!! Sounds like you found inspiration and enjoyed yourself even though sales didn't reach your expectation. Your work is amazing so don't be disappointed!

In spite of everything I shall rise again: I will take up my pencil, which I have forsaken in my great discouragement, and I will go on with my drawing.

Hello Anita!!!

What a beautiful post. I love how you always find the positive and focus on the things that really matter. It sounds like you had a special time even though it wasn't monetarily as successful as you hoped for. I bet you have some special stories to treasure.

I am sorry I haven't stopped by in a while. It's been a pretty busy couple of weeks. I hope you had a good Thanksgiving!

Love,
Heidi

Profit doesn't matter at all in the face of these things. And anything that turns the old back into a child again, even for a moment, is fabulously precious. I'm glad you had this experience. I'm glad they did, too.

Hello beautiful,

You and Ruben need to pop by for a visit. I have a slideshow up of some pics of the new bathroom. It's almost complete and we are getting to use. it. Thanks again for the camera. I'm slowly but surely learning to work with it. I'm still having issues with low light photos, but I'm getting there.

Hugs!

Dearest ANita - wow, one big world party would be so cool! In a way - christmas almost is like that, because so many of us around the globe are celebrating. Maybe we should have, right after christmas, a day for all religions and people who do't follow any particular way, to just celebrate LOVE, PEACE and the beautiful planet we live on.
o good to hear youRe busy - keep it flowing! Hugs for a happy evening!

A warm hello Anita as I almost start into my semi-blogger retirement mode, I think if you did that to your own readers that would be pretty devastating to them since everyone loves your blog.

I have been meaning to drop over here the last week so here I am, have you done all of your Christmas shopping, I mean holiday shopping my bad. I'm kidding so I'm sticking with calling it what it is (Christmas).

Its really sad what its become now, and it seems that certain people are trying to please everyone at the expense of what still is a majority who want to call it Christmas.

I don’t personally care what others do so I just do my own thing, its their problem.

Well it looks like I've just had a conversation with myself while writing this comment, lol, what can I say Anita, what can I say................. Rich

I am sorry that your
show didn't make a
profit, but that is the
nature of an artist's
life when first starting
out, right? Even though
you are an artist celebrity
in the Blogosphere, the
real world is still discovering
you and your talents,
sweet friend! Hang in
there and keep making
beauty!!!

Happy Saturday,

I can see in your artwork all the personalities you have been through a lifetime and I think that it why it is so amazing dear Anita and why it will be a joy to behold for all the ages who see it for themselves.

Think of all the hearts that felt joy when they saw it---priceless indeed!

Mon Cheri Anita! A nice surprise visit from you today. thank you.

i've been all over the place today; taking photos of my daughter and her little family at a old train station (for their Christmas cards), getting my hair done an hour away and picking up my husband at his bff's home (he took the train early to help his bff with a plumbing issue in an investment property of the bff's). HM and I drove home together. He is relaxing in front of the tube while i blog a bit. now we are heading to Target to hopefully buy a tripod for $5. Two bloggers have told me to do so.

Q: Is your wedding dress a full body size dress or is it a miniature of a dress?

you are so creative with your paper mache art. I love it so.

Have a lovely Sunday and see you on Monday. I'm posting more thrifty finds!!!!!:D

Bonjour chere amie!
Yes, we absolutely must visit it together...
I purposely placed the portrait of the girl who has our coloring right on top.
Very unexpected for a Russian painter...since he lived in Taos, he came into contact with many latino and Native American people...he loved painting them...
Fechin also traveled to Mexico to paint the people and landscapes..
One writer is quoted as saying of Fechin's paintings..
"How they shout and sing!"
I agree, they are so full of LIFE!
Thank you, dear sister, for your always special visit.
I wish you a beautiful Sunday...
Love you!
