ReplyDeleteWait.... you mentioned about visiting shops this weekend? tell me more .... I need to pray about this my dear!
ReplyDeleteNita, I understand the risks however you have only ONE life to live and sometimes in life some of us , take the courage to take the risk! I have a feeling a bright and wonderful road is ahead of you. Perhaps not always an easy one, but at the end, all will make sense as I know you too are the daughter of the king and HE will be guiding you. I will be praying now!
ReplyDeleteDear Anita,
ReplyDeleteI don't think that cowardice has anything to do with your leaving teaching, and hopefully your school will think seriously about why it is that QUALITY, CARING teachers like you leave after 9 years: current ludicrous class room sizes; a Grand Central Station style of shuttling children all day long from one rob-Peter-to-pay-Paul intervention to another; following the latest technology fads instead of asking, is adopting this good, pedagogically?; and most significant of all, failing utterly to deal with our many cultural problems that are wholly non-conducive to shaping children to be even remotely prepared to think of school as first and foremost a place to learn.
I support your decision 100%. No, not a 100%. A 1,000%.
Love,
Ruben
I'm sorry .....so in a hurry to leave a comment I did not even read the post ......
ReplyDeleteI wanted to be one of the first for a long time and I did now ....
YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES
I wonder while writing this why it was so important to me .......
I am glad it happened and now I'm off reading .....
beye beye sweet friend oh
I guess I also am the last one on the former post hihi
oh my goodness
ReplyDeleteAnita YOU DID IT !
I am so so so proud of you .
You are right this is all about the future ....and yourself .
You have been a wonderful and caring teacher and new times are waiting .
The future as a precious gift ....
In dutch it's called
TOEKOMST .
and I always loved that word and its meaning .
Working at school with the little ones I always felt that big secret around them ....they were on their way to be someone .....
yet a secret and unknown but what would they need to get there .....in that future ( toekomst) That was what I saw as my "job".....
and not all the things in the books that very important people wrote about what children should learn and also how .......
The secret of the future always made me humble .....
And now your future is waiting I wish you all the best ! with all my heart .
Yes, my friend, you ARE an artist!! I will keep you in my prayers too but I already know you made the right decision!! Kudos to you for following your dreams. You are such an inspiration - love you!! xo
ReplyDeleteIf I could throw an elaborate CELEBRATION in your honor at this very moment for making this marvelous, brave decision, I would! In my heart, I am singing, dancing, praying and celebrating at the "rebirth" of an ARTIST! Of course, I knew this announcement was going to appear, but for me, to see it in print... is nothing short of pure exhilaration!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteAs Ruben said, we are 1000% behind you for this excitng move towards PURE HAPPINESS...living your life as YOU want to...living the DREAM inside of you for so long...
You are doing what people only WISH they could do... to venture out in the world of the unknown, but fully armed with the passion and talent that will make you succeed: ON YOUR TERMS. You are already achieving amazing goals and I, as your "sister", :) have been there from the beginning. I wish you could FEEL what "PROUD" means to me. There are no words...only tears of joy for my wonderful, talented friend, who knew it was time...time to spread her wings and live the life intended for Anita Rivera, the artist.
I am not only bursting with pride, my friend, but I am right along side of you, guiding you all the way. You have no idea what is in store for you. Be prepared to see stars in your eyes and feel goosebumps at every turn. You're about to embark on the ride of a lifetime.
I am so proud of you.
I love you , my wonderful friend! xoxoxoxoxoxo
Nita, I have chills...I think God just used you in a powerful way for someone else! I will explain as soon as I can...I wish I could say it was me...but my time is not here...it will be though! Bless you!
ReplyDeleteOMG....Anita dearest...walking into a whole new world...so excited for you...YOU GO GIRL...Cheers, cheers, cheers...much love, Dzintra xoxo
ReplyDeleteOh Anita what an amazing decision !!

I rejoice for you, as the others are doing! I loved reading Rubens comment, what a dear man to support you in this huge life-altering decision! He loves you so and KNOWS what you are capable of...
ReplyDeleteI like how you announced this and wrote your blog post, you are not walking away from something, your path is just taking you in another direction, and you were brave enough to change your course.
I love that you said
"I AM AN ARTIST!"
And that you have Lisa to walk with you and guide you on this creative road is going to be magical~! (and Jesus, the Master Artist!!!)
Love you, Rejoice with you,
Oh Happy Day!!!
~ Violet
Does that mean from now you are an artist ??? and no teacher anymore???....o my...go for it girl...you only you can do this !!...love from me.....kunstenaar van me...xxx...
ReplyDeleteI am in the midst of walking away from something as well and that first quote is just what i needed to read. Being true to ourselves can sometimes be the hardest thing to do.....but freedom does bring rewards eventually...and i am sure your release will bring you a bounty of special rewards....onward!!!!!
ReplyDeleteOf course you were very brave!!! And you are an artist! :-)
ReplyDeleteI'm sure everything will be fine because you have the talent, you are giving an opportunity to yourself to fulfil your potencial which is a big one, and you are a hard working woman! Go forward! I admire you even more for your courage! And let me say Ruben too, for his support!
You are a wonderful couple and You, Anita, are a true amazing artist! :-)
Congrats to choose hapiness!!
I am proud of you Anita. It was this time last year I quit my job. Now I am an antique dealer! If you had told me in 2010 that would happen I would think you were mad.
ReplyDeleteYou have the skill, you have the talent, just go for it! One year from now you will be able to look back and say "if anyone had told me that by 2013 I would be a full-time artist"!
You can, and WILL succeed. I have immense faith in you.
Have a wonderful stress-free weekend.

Anita you a brave, talented and most of all caring artist! Your may reach more children through your new ventures, than in the teaching role as it was.

Anita, you ARE an artist! But what a loss for the children with whom you shared your talents. As a retired teacher, I know of the frustrations. I say, dance forward into this new adventure. Turn the pages of this new chapter and enjoy every step of the journey.
ReplyDeleteAll the best to you, Anita! ~ Sarah
Well that's just wonderful, sweetie!!!
ReplyDeleteSometimes it's hard to say it when you really have never said it..."I'm an Artist", but once you know you are, watch what happens.
Many blessings to you dear!
Oh, I am so glad to hear you took the step towards artistic independence. You will now be even more creative!

Dear Anita, it takes GREAT courage to take a leap of faith and embrace change and the unknown! You are so very true to yourself, and that will never change, no matter what you do! And yes an artist, indeed, and an artist and a teacher combined is a winning combination!! Thinking of you and anticipating great things to come....N.xo
ReplyDeleteO.M.G...I'm soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo proud of you..and..I agree with Ruben..100% and more my dear..O My..this going to be such a grand adventure..
ReplyDeleteMust dash and tell Miss Moussie..xoxo......................................................You finally found YOU..:))
Anita, dear, I was going to answer your astounding email, but I decided to try here instead, and even though I can't load the pictures, I can read your words!!!! HOW EXCITED I am for you!!!!! While I agree with Sarah about what a loss it is for your students, I still rejoice for your bravery and the joy you must be feeling. Talk about the rebirth of Spring !!!! This is such an act of Renewal for you! I know things have been stressful for you at school, and although I don't know all the facts, I saw a program about the public school system on TV last night, and I can only imagine what you have had to endure. Things have changed since I retired 4 years ago!
ReplyDeleteSo I wish for you the greatest time of relief, and a lightening of your spirit as you plan for the next stage of your artistic life!!! BooBoo, here she comes!!!

Anita art is seen through the eye of how we want to see it, how it moves us and what it brings to our soul. You my sweetest friend bring many happy days to those who have had the please to be in your artful eye!
ReplyDeleteThis is a fabulous posting, this in itself is art along with the art of praying, I am praying for our Lord will listen and hear that you my friend are handed from God so what you deserve, and that is many...

Choosing to change careers to reenforce your identity versus changing it is a difficult, emotional (I went through it not long ago) decision. There will be ups and downs as you change and grow but you are 100% correct with the freedom statement.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations for taking such a bold step and I wish you all the success and luck in your new future!
The best of luck to you! it is a shame the way our school system has become one of teaching to standardized testing instead of truly giving children what they need to grow and learn. Every good wish for success in your future endeavors!

ReplyDeleteAnita you are a teacher and an artist...as well as many other things. Your decision to leave teaching and pursue art does not mean that you are not a teacher...just that being an artist makes your heart sing more. I was a teacher but could never have taught in the school system(public or private)for the many reasons that you are finally leaving it. You are already experiencing so much success with your etsy shop that I believe you will truly enjoy this next chapter of your life. More beauty will come forth through you as you are able to give yourself more fully to creating. I know you will also miss your students and they will miss you! But you can always get involved in the community and do arts and crafts with kids...there are many opportunites for that. I wish you the best lovely friend. ox

Such an inspiration. I feel excited for you and for what lies ahead..BIG THINGS I am sure!! Stay true to what you love and what you feel you are put on this earth to do...and I truly believe the rest will follow. Sending you a great big hug and a huge congratulations as you turn the corner and take this giant leap towards listening to your heart and realizing your dreams!! The skys the limit for you Anita!
ReplyDeleteI do not know you, personally, but have followed your blog for quite awhile. I wish you well on your new journey! ~Susan
ReplyDeleteHonoring YOUrself and your passion is THE most important part of your life. How blessed to be able to feel the artist you are and to pursue that. Your Ruben is an amazing person to support you 1000%
ReplyDeleteNow onward along your journey's path my dear. May you enjoy all that awaits you. Life does get better once we follow our passion...

ReplyDeletehmmm....are you considering quitting teaching, and pursuing a FULL TIME ARTIST/Creator????????
ReplyDeleteChanges are always hard to make. It is the "decision" to really do it.
Pray and listen....that's all I can suggest.
But how lovely it would be to be a full time "doer" of the things you love most.
I'm back to listen to this AMAZING music and to soak in all these beautiful comments! The panda just tops it off. HOW ADORABLE!!! I LOVE this post...it may be my favorite post of all because of it's INCREDIBLE message. I am so proud of you I can barely stop smiling.

ReplyDeleteOH WOW...and OH HAPPY DAY indeed! I think you made the right decision. Life is too short and you have so many talents to share as an artist...so NOW is the perfect time for you to devote more of yourself to this ongoing venture. I love what Ruben said and how he supports you fully. That in itself should give you so much comfort and peace.

Anita,
ReplyDeleteHaha The panda bear surprised me and made me laugh. I know this feels like you just made the plunge into the unknown, but it reminds me of a post that I did one time that says "When one door closes, another door opens, and there may be something beautiful waiting for you." I know there is something waiting for you because you have such wonderful talents. I was looking at all the photos here. Can you get anything sweeter than this picture of the little girl? Your bright yellow Header brings sunshine to my heart. Hang in there, sweet Anita, and everything be alright, and one day your dreams will come true.

You are very brave, Anita!
ReplyDeleteThe dream within a dream, I do believe is what you are accomplishing. And are you going to be writing too? That is what I truly should be doing is writing. I love my doll making and other altered crafts, but to write a couple of novels is my true dream come true...and it takes so much time! But my brother said, little by little...You can see his blog 'Penchant' by accessing it from my sidebar where the dragon is. It takes you to his site and then click on 'blog'. And there is a surprise too, if you go to his blog where the adorable photo 'Kat' the main character in 'The Dragon of Cripple Creek' now has a theme song called 'Kat's Theme' which my oldest son Troy composed. (Both my brother and my son's names are Troy. One is Troy Howell, the other is Troy Swanson) You can click to go hear my son play the theme on the you tube link at the bottom of that post.
I love to see my friends make their dreams come true, whether it is in the realm of art, music, or writing or whatever their passion is!!!
Relax and dream up a storm of goodies! Which I think is what you have been doing of late.
Blessing to you this marvelous weekend!

ReplyDeleteI feel sorry for the students that will not have you to inspire them, because I know you must be one of the BEST teachers they have, but I also see dear Ruben's point. Teachers are hard done by these days. It's just not fair.
I've told you over a year ago to follow your heart, and you are finally there.
You don't need luck, you are already lucky at nearly 56

For some reason, this blog and the music brought tears to my eyes. I love the singing, love their music, and it fit so well here tonight! I can see the window opening for you Anita, and those precious gifts you've been given are going to bless others, as well as fill your own soul. ReplyDeleteDearest Anita
ReplyDeleteI am so delighted for you
I feel this will really spread your wings, there is nothing cowardly it is sheer bravery, and as for teaching one of my close friends is a teacher and it is shocking the stress she is under, you have made an amazing decision, well done!
All my best
Denise

i make my posts...happy Monday!
Hi my cheery friend, I'm comment 100!
ReplyDeleteWe're leading up to Easter, chere sweet Anita. Are you on break or is school filling your days.
How I love this time of your, blue skies, no jackets outside, Spring flowers popping, blossoms, fresh smells. We cycle a lot on Saturday's and Sunday's!
Waving at you and blowing a big kiss as you head into your late afternoon. Lots of love to mijn lieve vriendin xx
Life is FOREVER going in different directions... ENJOY! Fifi
ReplyDeleteIts been a while for me to be on here Anita, and your just going where your heart is telling you to go. Better to try something and fail than to never have tried and always wonder........... Richard
ReplyDeleteAnita,
ReplyDeleteNow as I recall, you learned how to play the harp, became a teacher later in life, and now you will enjoy a new life as an artist. Life is so short, a gift to enjoy and fulfill all that God intended you to be.
I believe in you, your gifts and your purpose.
Karen
Dearest Anita
ReplyDeleteCongratulations and I wish you success beyond your wildest dreams in your full time role as Artist. Your pupils will miss your graciousness and gift of teaching and I have no doubt you have left lasting impressions on the little ones.
Helen xx
Okay, still not sure
ReplyDeleteWHEN this freedom
will come, but so SO
happy that YOU are
happy! Hooray!
Enjoy your spring
break.....Imagine this
is quite a load off your
back, my friend!
xx Suzanne
Love you Nita!
ReplyDeleteThe sun lured me (almost permanently) outside and I have been away from the computer for a couple of weeks and am just now reading this for the first time!
ReplyDeleteWOW!! I feel so excited for you and your decision!! Oh my goodness, what an enormous step this must be. I'm so impressed with your courage. How many people go through life just being conscious, not really living intentionally? It's so easy to do. So when someone breaks out and does what he or she truly loves, I can't help being awestruck!
I wish you huge success, dearest! I am sure it will come.
Keri
I would say that 9 years is good enough. Your students were lucky to have you, now it is time for a new adventure. Is is, indeed. a lot of work to make it in the art world, but you are not afraid of hard work, and you have your foot in the door and I think you have a taste of what to expect. Freedom is so lovely, isn't it?!
ReplyDeleteHi Anita!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness girl!
You did it!
I am singing "Oh Happy Day" for you!
If only I could leap with you ~
The courage may come next year...
It's not like me to "wait for a retirement benefit etc..." freedom comes when freedom is ready.
I just posted a comment to Koralee's blog {IRONICALLY} that after spring break, we will be administering torture and pain with our NY State assessment tests. The rubrics are really tough; the tests are being used to assess teachers. It's like judging a physical ed. teacher based on his students' weight or body mass index!
There is so much decay in society ~ the family has been so obliterated by bad public policy {too many rewards for irresponsible behavior}...
who's left to blame?
Let me think???
Oh wait ~ the teacher!
Oh dear, Anita ~ there I go with my own ramblings about the state of education!
Please hear my applause!
God bless you always in all you do.
Our most important gift that we give one another is the Good News of our Saviour and to share His love. You are a beautiful daughter of God and sister in Christ Jesus Our Lord.
I am cheering you on dear friend ♥
xoxo xoxo

Hi, my dear Anita-
ReplyDeleteI am not sure, if I understand the sense of your words.
You are not a teacher anymore? Was it your wish? If not- I hope, you feel good! If yes- then be lucky that you are brave and I wish you the best for your next steps- maybe you can tell me, what´s your wish for the future.
Enjoy that Easterweekend!
XO- Ines
ps- I love that wonderful pic of the woman between those much birds- great!
Wow, ANITA!! Congratulation on a tough decision! It can't have been easy, or maybe it was and that will make it that much smoother. However, I'm so glad you have the loving support of your dear ones. And you have mine as well!
ReplyDeleteWishing you so much joy in your new endeavors!
xoxo and bisous,
Kirsten
Dear Anita,
ReplyDeleteBeautiful post! You are NOT a coward. You are one brave 'artist' girl...:)
May God bless you in your new venture. Your artwork is sweet and beautiful!
Happy Easter to you!
xoxo...Gloria
Anita,
ReplyDeleteOh yes, I am settling in. I forgot how tiring moving can be. I have been unpacking boxes and moving things around. The next step is the fun one, as I get to decorate my new space. I'm not sure if you'll do another post before Easter, but I wanted to wish you a beautiful Easter, and may you have your loved ones close to you on this blessed day.
~Sheri at Red Rose Alley
Thank you for your touching wish for peace and for missing me in my absence. It makes me feel so special!
ReplyDeleteI do understand, although not as much as you do, about the strain that school systems put on teachers and students. That something is broken is indisputable especially in the wake of losing truly wonderful teachers. I completely don't blame you for being through because, quite frankly, I'm about through with it all myself from the standpoint of a parent of an elementary school child. I'm praying for the courage and strength to do what I must from my end as well.
I saw that you pinned my house to your board "Favorite Places & Spaces". How honored I feel that you like it enough to include in your lovely Pinterest collection!!
Keri
Dear Anita,
ReplyDeleteHope you are having a lovely week creating and enjoying, sweet Spring days there.
Thanks for visiting me.
Hugs
Carolyn
Dearest girl,
ReplyDeleteThis takes guts and courage. You possess much strength and also compassion to be making this enormous leap into a new future.
Your students will no doubt be rather bereft for the teacher who is moving onto pastures new, but look at the mark you will have left on their lives. The inspiration that they too can follow their dreams.
We only get one shot at life and it's crucial to do what you want. I love your artwork, you are highly talented.
As other commenters have said, you are still a teacher in your heart, but the artist side of you is shining brighter. So I am thrilled for you and wish you all the luck in the world (you won't need it though)
x x x xx
Wonderful Anita- you have so much to give. Thank you for your lovely comment! Maybe now it´s YOUR time- so I wish you the best to be an artist. I think, this wish isn´t fresh- it needs time.
ReplyDeleteI know, that I wanna earn money with my paints. Maybe you´ve seen my artblog on the right side of my blog? I am not perfect- but I know, I have my own style and so I understand, that your soul needs this next step now. I have no time to paint much- but one day I will do the next step like you- so I hope, you have much success- but I am sure, you will have!
A big hug to- Ines♥
Whatever your heart dictates...
ReplyDeletedo it!
And goodluck in having the courage to pursue your dream and be true to your real calling.
Sorry- just one thing ;-)
ReplyDeleteOur time on earth is soooo small. So it´s important, to do, what our heart dictates, a wonderful sentence of Ann- just over me...
The most people wait and wait and nothing is happen... but we have to stand up and just do it- otherwise nothing will happen-
so- the last brainstormin :-)
Good luck, Beauty-
Ines♥
Your plans sound wonderful to me! I am sure, that you are able to take it!!!
ReplyDeleteHere is the link to my artblog (calling paintbox): http://mal-kasten.blogspot.de/
I hope, you like it- really not perfect- but I like my style. I´ve seen a collection of painting with structure paste and I tried it and I felt in love with this technic.
I started a book- and I wanna write a vegan cook book for people with allergies together with my daughter (important for mothers of such children with food allergies) . But I am one of those people who say always- tomorrow..tomorrow....
So once again- have a nice day, too and enjoy it!
♥Ines♥
Oh My! you have hundreds of friends commenting.Room for one more?I'm happy for you.How exciting.I've retired from nursing and even gave up My licence.I just say I'm a retired R.N.Life is so much bigger than a career.I know you'll be happy, you have a wonderful life that God has touched."Reach for the Moon and you'll land in the Stars."Have fun!
ReplyDeleteDear Anita, I have been so sick again..third round with this, My apologies for not coming sooner. I want you to realize, YOU are a teacher, and yes, perhaps not for todays system..I can only imagine all the emotions you must be going through right now, but know in your heart, you have been guided by him, to follow your heart time and time again, with your love of teaching, your love of Ruben, your love of art, writing, and life. You have taught many of us what true strength and faith is.I applaude your decision to follow your dreams. xoxo Christel
ReplyDeleteSuch a beautiful post Anita. Your words and the pics that you use always leave me dumbstruck...
ReplyDeleteSo beautifully you weave words, and the meaning comes out so well.
Its been long since I come here, but the warmth of your posts is still very much present.
Have a lovely lovely week ahead Anita:)
Hi Anita,
ReplyDeleteI finally had time to read this. Congratulations on your new endeavor! Speaking as a fellow teacher, teaching is an art and our community will be losing one special person. But the world is gaining a truly special artist. xo
Morning my friend...sorry I have not popped in of a visit all week...I really can not believe it is Thursday already....school life has got me busy once again.
ReplyDeleteMay the rest of your week be heavenly....xoxoxoxoxoox
you too multi talented friend!
ReplyDeletehappy holy thursday!
only 5 more artists to gather
and we can start making letters!
Anita! i swear you wrote this post for me! ( well that’s what i like to think anyways:)
ReplyDeleteit’s so beautiful to follow your heart...

Très belles fêtes de Pâques.

Dear Anita, what a powerful post that speaks volumes to me, especially since we are in similar situations: you are embarking on a new journey professionally, while I am entering the same unknown from a personal point of view. I really do believe that when you want something with your entire heart, the universe will find ways to give it to you. That is why Einstein used to say that the most important decision we ever need to make in our lives is whether we believe in a friendly or in an unfriendly universe.....It is a choice and the only way you can beat fear, it is through ACTION. And you are certainly doing that. Way to go. It is inspiring and empowering what you have done and let's step into the enriching unknown hand in hand, where dreams never end....
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Bianca
I could watch that panda all day long.
ReplyDeleteHi Anita!
ReplyDeleteAre you on spring break too?
It's been kind of cloudy and cool...but hey... no snow LOL
I've just started a new book, "Calm My Anxious Heart." It was recommended by a friend at work who is using it to lead a women's Bible study at her church. I hope to get into it more now that I have some quiet mornings. {The week is going by so fast though!}
Next week, we begin testing. The New York State Assessments- Round One is English.
I hope your Easter was sweet and JOY filled.
God bless you always,
Maria
Anita, you are so precious, I can't stand it! At last you have freed your mind and spirit.....you know how difficult that is, don't you? I am still attempting to be free, with no compromise...ever! Will I ever ? You have done it...brave heart! N.xoxo
