Dream Maker - Heart Breaker

It wasn't until years later

when I started to write

  about

that Father's Day

when she died

tumblr gif

that I saw

 As my father and I

scouted
the funebrial sky

for the moon and stars

we hoped

for a final grasp

of our past

that we could

no longer behold.

via

But now I know

that when you look at

any object

what you're really seeing

is its traveling reflection

of light.

tumblr gifs

Tonight

you're not seeing

the moon as it is now

 but as it was

its distance of

time ago.

And like moms

But

  we can still see

the luminosity of a star

long extinguished

traveling from its

original seat in

light years distance

reaching back to

after its last flicker of

 life.

Two weeks later

my dad's existence

began its voyage

in light years

and now every time

I look at a star

I see its pulsating waves

  6. So beautiful Anita. You gave a new perspective to my losing my mum. She died when I was just 18. I have thought about her a lot lately, more than over the past few decades. Maybe it's her light illuminating my way, I know it, not maybe. She never really left, neither did yours. The photo of your mum is so beautiful.
    Thank you Anita.

  7. Sweet Anita,
Yes, the light still lives on in the ones we lost and loved. It's almost Father's Day, and I have been thinking about my dad. I was so young when he left - only 28 (Jess' age).

The stars are fascinating to me, and the picture of the children looking up at the stars melted my heart.

A beautiful post today. You always send me to another world with your writing, and it is a place that we all need to be. A place of truth, hope, and love.

  15. Lead kindly light....
    The stars are brightly shining...
It is the night of our dear Savior's birth...

As with the Savior, our parents lights are our guiding stars...

Thank you for this gloriously, eternal post.

It is good to be reminded they are beyond the cares of this world.

    Star light, Star Bright
Wish I may, Wish I might

So many times as as child I would look up at the stars and say my secret wish.

There will be signs in the heavens at the Lord's return.

I wonder how many eons in advance those signs have to travel before they reach the Earth, or will God, in someway, make that journey from beyond the heavens an instantaneous one? I have pondered on this thought. I guess we will just have to 'wait and see'.

Have a blessed Friday and lovely weekend my dear friend!

  21. What an amazing metaphor. The life of a star that continues to blaze after it's gone and the life of a loved one that lights the spirit after the corporeal being is no more. They live as long as those who love them remember.

I wrote a story as a kid once about bottled memories one could pour out when one wanted to refresh them ... how lovely it would be if we could!

Here's to all those stars that still blaze in the firmament and in our hearts.

  31. Oh a new post. You continue to surprise me. I thought I was headed to the previous post and here is a new one. I had to look up "funebrial". Assumed it has something to do with a funeral. When my Dad passed I cried and cried the night before the viewing / wake. I just had to get it out. After that I wasn't sad. My Dad worked out of town when I was young and so I just pretended he was out of town. It worked. I mourned but it was suited. Dad had Parkinson's for his last 18 years of his life. Eventho absent at my youth and ill at my adulthood, he was a tremendous man, tremendous.

Thank you for bringing my Dad's memory back today. Appropriate timing and such, too. I am more than thrilled with the lavender lipstick. A great find, a great one.

    Fabulous weekend, dear!!!!!

  33. I understood each and every word of this exquisite post, Anita, beautifully expressed as always.

Two words stand out for me and I take them with me on this day, "traveling reflection."

Just yesterday morning I read this during my quiet time,

"What then? Shall we sit idly down and say
The night has come; it is no longer day?
Yet as the evening twilight fades away,
The sky is filled with stars, invisible to day."

Little did I know I would be sharing it with you today.
    Love and blessings, friend.

  60. Hello beautiful Anita!!!!
As always you have created magic in a blog post with amazing imagery!!!!! LOVE!!!!!
We woke up this morning & our 16 year old terrier mix, Riley, had major difficulty using his back leg. He is partially blind & deaf with arthritis as he's aged. We aren't sure if this is the end but we can see he is going downhill and it's SO upsetting and sad. We adopted Riley from a shelter about a month after my husband & I got married. This is especially painful for us because he has been with us since the beginning of our lives together.
I always wish dogs could live longer!!!! They are members of the family and it's so difficult to watch them be a playful, full of energy puppy to a slowing down, aging dog.
So it was a sad end to our weekend & we sure hope we have some more time with him....
    Hope all is great!!!!
    Sending luv. & hugs,
    Shannon

    not all those who WONDER
    are LOST
    the old that is STRONG
    does not wither
    deep ROOTS are not reached
    by the frost
    from the ashes
    a FIRE shall be woken
