Anita, I'm so glad that Penny won. She is such a dear person. I loved this post, and this is why.......I haven't traveled much, the girls yes, but me not so much - but I have many treasures of the home in different rooms. When I saw these rooms filled with treasures it made me smile because I believe we don't have to travel to have these special things of our heart. Now, who is that holding the bouquet of flowers? The picture of the pink roses is so lovely. Nothing can stop the heart from flying where it desires.......I love that. I will definitely be back to see this sweet post again.

love you,
~Sheri

Anita,
Merci for a week of dreams. I spent many hours in Europe this week via all the inspiring, uplifting personal journeys. Thank you for hosting Simply Irresistible again this year.

Congratulations to Penny on winning the beautiful tea set. The engraved serving tray is a reminder of bridal showers in the Deep South in years gone by. I was fortunate enough in my life to attend some of those gracious, bring out the sterling silver, showers for friends. That was a time when every southern bride selected a sterling silver flatware pattern, sometimes a new one, but many times a family-tradition pattern, knowing she would someday inherit her mother's or grandmother's sterling silver. While in college I took an obligatory art class. The one I chose was Contemporary Art, and the instructor included a unit on silver. She also encouraged all of us to buy sterling silver flatware as soon as possible because she predicted it would become so expensive in the relatively near future that it would be out of the reach of most of our budgets. So, this vintage Sheffield Georgian Tea Set stirred memories of a bygone era when no one would ever consider using paper plates or napkins for a party.

Somehow, I feel a little like Mrs. Havisham, living in the past.

Life is a flash of light between two eternities of darkness.

Nabokov.

La nuit respire la clarté
de l'océan de lune
Et d'une voix douce
le poète solitaire
chante sa nostalgie

Ni pour un dieu
ni pour la beauté
qui danse entre les collines
mais pour elle seule
il écrit ses mots

Plus loin que les anges
plus loin que le bord du vide
il cherche ses yeux

Et le vent du désir chuchote :
bientôt l'aurore arrivera...

Oh! I am so thrilled for Penny that she won the tea set!
Summer has flown again.
I do love the paper dresses and the music. Chopin? I went to the Hollywood Bowl years ago and was able to hear an entire Chopin piano concert. I was swooning at the music...just to die for!
Oh, to be able to make paper dresses like that! I know you can for sure!!! Just beautiful, absolutely, beautiful post!

Feeling like I need to polish the silver tea service I never use. This was lovely.
