Sleeping Beauty

Before anyone of us can BLOOM into the blue bird of happiness that we were meant to be

we must endure a state of DORMANCY

until the light begins to shine again

to illuminate our PURPOSE

so that we can flourish.

I have been asleep for a long time

but for the last two years

every morning and by my side

YOU have called me out from my slumber

with your individual styles

your outlandish humor

your hospitality and point of view.

This year I will be one year older in body

but many years younger in spirit

because TOGETHER

we strengthen our faith in ourselves and in each other

to come forward

and dare to try what we as little girls

always dreamt of being

but as women

were afraid to try.

This is finally my year dear friends

what about you

Open up the gift of your minds

and free your talents from the inevitable but temporary period of dormancy, for your Spring is coming.

My beauty sleep is finally over

and this winter I am going to slowly blossom

and come out of the pages of someone else's dreams

and be the artist and storyteller that I was meant to be.

What a perfect way to start the year. A feeling of awakening the purpose of one's life. It is thrilling! So many times people chirp "follow your bliss!!!" and we draw back and inward thinking "what is my bliss?" and feel lost. For some the path is obvious, for others it is not.

Julia Child said "Find something you're passionate about and keep tremendously interested in it." When you are open to your passions... the rest will come. Here's to the phoenix in all of us... long may we blaze and renew!

Perhaps He is singing
into your heart,

"Arise my darling, my beautiful one, and come with me. See! The winter is past, the rains are over and gone. Flowers appear on the earth; the season of singing has come, the cooing of doves is heard in our land.

The fig tree forms its early fruit; the blossoming vines spread their fragrance.

Arise, come, my darling;
my beautiful one,
come with me."

Song of Songs 2:10-13

Outside the winter may still be frozen solid but within the streams of living water are flowing! ... And watering the slumbering buds of all the creativity that were so wonderfully created within you.

To share the fragrant (glittering!) blossoming vines of

*** B E A U T Y ***

to bless the world with
~ the LOVE ~ the HOPE ~ the DANCE ~
that only YOU can offer.

The season of singing has come!
Arising from the slumber of winter.

Your d r e a m s taking flight!!!

I shall be posting about you later today my dear dear friend, and what your thoughtful glittering gifts have meant to me.

How I am so blessed each time I visit here and partake of the beauty you offer, and drink of this refreshing water to my soul.

got me thinking
Have I been slumbering for these past 59 years....
this year I turn 60
TIME to figure it out.
Yes I know some absolutes about life.
some things remain mysteries to me.

I had many visions as a young girl....what happened to those. LIFE. Hard things. Fairy tales crumpled. I used to think ALL within my grasp was possible.
where did that go.
I need to find it again. the fairy tales....which sometimes DO end in happily ever after.

I will wake from my slumber
I KNOW there are absolutes
and I WILL someday find those mysteries that baffle me. Hold me back.
from the little girl who had all those visions and believed in all things possible.

Dear Anita...
This was just so pretty. It's true how sometimes "life" just kind of obliterates our dreams. I've found that simplicity of daily activities helps a long way toward realizing dreams. It's amazing how much time is spent on doing things that don't contribute to our life's work. We must take care of the day to day business of life - making a home for our family being a priority - but there is still time each day to pursue our personal dreams... and doing them will only make our home that much better!!
Many blessings for a fabulous year of dreams coming true!

Oh Dearheart...... You ARE..... ARE!!!!!! allllll of that! It's all bursting forth! :-) Love to see your posts....how you tell a sweet story with pictures. I love the pictures!... Just like when I was a little chickie and my Mum had to pay me to read....Oh my, did I just tell that secret? Shhhh.... don't tell!

Thanks for the compliments on my new look and for the tip on the bigger pix. I'll do that for sure! I hope they'll fit with that border gizmo. That was so stinking hard to do. I still had my Christmas header and didn't even want to blog because everything seemed so messy. Unfortunately my little fella isn't quite old enough to know all the 'puter stuff yet. Soon, I will have a right hand guy!... Well, hoping.

Hope all is well with you sweet one!!!

Huggies...........and LOVIES!

Dear Anita, oh, what an exiting week for you! I bet you fly right home after work, and i hope students and colleagues are very kind to you!
Once these rooms are ready, you will be so creative in them!
Here, the weather is very nasty. Cold and humid. Hot soup and a hot bubble-bath tonight. And a good book.
Take care and stay warm! xox

Bonjour dearest!
I hope you had a lovely weekend even if it was very busy. Were you able to paint?
As for me, I didn't do much except take Miss Bella to her ice skating lessons and run some errands. She's always so much fun to watch =)
We're awaiting 4"-6" of snow this evening and it has just begun! I was hoping to meet a girlfriend for lunch tomorrow but I'm fine with being snowed in with my little darlings. Snow is better than the tornado that came through on NYE!
Wishing you a wonderful week!

Dear Anita,

Thanks for your visit dear friend and your kind words.
When we visited France in 2007 for my 50th birthday we lost my photos when we got back with the computer that crashed. So hoping to get some good photos this time.
It was a shame you lost your photos too.

Have a happy week

Bonsoir ma cherie, comment allez-vous? Il est froid mais je prends mon the et c'est chaud, n'est-ce pas? Teehee, that sentence doesn't make sense at all but it's a little Frenchy. How is your dream palace doing? Take lots of pictures, my friend. Je te donne beaucoup de bisous pour een hele fijne avond. Smakelijk eten en welterusten voor straks, lieve Anita xxxx

Anita, how was your day? Did you have time to dream about curtains in Tiffany-blue and chandeliers? I think it's good to take time for the rooms, so much fun to look around for the right things. When i was in CN last year, i so liked the barnsales there! Could have bought tons of stuff!
Loulou is great, isn't she? I so love to see older women who are attractive and well dressed, but without trying to look like girls (nor like old ladies). Every age has it's charm, but we have to learn to adjust. And this woman is a great inspiration!

Oh Anita dearest: I had such a tough day at work today. I feel I am not doing what I'm supposed to be doing and it feels unnatural - for a lack of a better term. Your words put my mind at ease as I believe that somehow, this year, I will have the courage to do what I've been feeling I'm supposed to be doing. Something that makes me truly happy, not just something I'm good at. Thank you so much for this truly inspiring post. Hugs! (I love the window you've chosen for your kitchen!)

I am thinking of flowers, too. So is Kiki. We need a garden of the mind and an invincible summer. I think I may go post a bit about it if I can. Love and patience to you for your addition, yikes, I hear you, I can see lath in my upper hall, my upper bath is all torn up and my kitchen ceiling is in need of plaster now that we fixed the leak. It never ends, but it will taper off for us someday. We haven't had this house long after we bought it from Grandpa and it needs so much love.

Oh my darling Anita,
This is a spectacular post! How do come up with this plethora of goodness over and over again...You "ooze" creativity my dear.
Ahhhh, I had such a wonderfully normal day today...and I feel pretty good physically. God is SO good! Thank you for the many prayers that you whispered on my behalf. I still have issues, but the good days are more frequent now.
Spent today placing more orders, mostly home decor at this time of the year. We ladies take down the Christmas and things look a little bare so we shop for home decor to brighten our spaces.
Will stop in at the store in the morning and deliver a few small pieces (tables, stools and things)
In the afternoon I'll clean the house...I hope :)
Well dear one, you are getting so close. Ruben will slap a little primer on those fresh new walls and then you will create a fine new gown for this beautiful ballroom you have dreamed up. Oh dear one I will be dreaming with you every step of the way...but for now, I must wish you a good night and fill the kettle, ready for your early morning visit. Sleep well dear one...love R

I'm certain you are excited to get busy decorating your new addition. I cannot wait to see the photos! I love, love, love those floors!! I hope to have the same pattern one day in my home.
As for me, I don't have much on the agenda this weekend. I plan to do some reading and research, and get everything ready to begin school this week.
Like you, we are looking forward to spring break. Not far from then will be summer break! I'm already dreaming of beautiful
blooming tulips of printemps.

Oh Anita, creamy white walls sound great! I'd choose the same, because with a neutral shade you can switch the color scheme so easy with curtains, cushions, paintings etc. if you like to. Plus it always looks nice and fresh. Have a super fun day and enjoy the process!
