Anything beautiful
and with a far-reaching past
from hurling depths towards
DOUBT.
DOUBT.
The name
comes from the Latin words
PRO - on behalf of
and
VINCERE - to triumph and take control over -
hence the word
PROVINCIA.
She was once a bird in a cage
a servant
under strict Roman rule.
But Provence
is all the more beautiful today because of her
brief captivity in the annals of TIME
for she finally paved her way through history
towards HER OWN horizon
in order to reach the shores of peace.
But aren't we all at one point or another
challenged as such
by the
GIANTS and VICTORS
to whom we could
easily yield
our Fears?
I took a chance early this week and stepped out of my
comfort zone
and propelled my way into the presence of
experienced writers.
We left walking on the firm and lonely
stone-cold path of reality
coming up with only one conclusion.
Keep writing
and learn
to fly.
I know I will reflect back on this time of my
life and say
so that she could have the SKILLS NECESSARY to
soar towards her goal
and claim
PROVENCIA.
hence the word
PROVINCIA.

Anita,
I love the allusion to Povincia -- what was once under rule and fear, can arise from that conquest to become something victorious, beautiful and eternal in its own right.
In writing as in many things there is no substitute for taking the chance and leaping into dizzying space. We'll make our wings on the way down. I love that.
Love
Ruben
Mon Ami your words are twinkling like diamonds ...brightly! Your images a feast for the eyes and minds eye of dreams. Your writing is inspiring... may your dreams continue to soar , so many others may be touched by your warmth.
A hundred years from now ... The world will be a better place because you have touched the lives of so many!!! Blessings xo HHL
Good evening dearest Anita. I hope that you are enjoying your first week of summer. I am so happy for you that you spread your wings and found new heights to your dreams. It is always scary stepping outside what we know but when we are greeted with a new understanding of who we are it is definitely worth it.
I hope you have a wonderful weekend my dear. Much love to you!

Provencia... love this illustration. When we get out of our daily comfort zone and 'give it our best shot'... stuff happens!

Very nice Anita......good for you reaching beyond your fears and trying something that challenges you. GOOD JOB.
I am very much a chicken to try new things.....afraid of failure and I don't know why I let that stop me from "soaring".
I really like the words stated....Pave your way to your own horizon, in order to reach the shores of peace.....
Ultimately that is what we all need to do I guess...Pave our own way, brick by brick if necessary..until we find our own personal shores of peace.
It can be a long hard journey. but if peace is the prize, I believe it would be worth it.
Made me also think of Matt.....GIANTS and VICTORS. Breaks my heart that he was not able to be victorious over the Giants that lorded over him and stole his shores of peace.
Such is life sometimes. Such is the journey for all of us.
Provence...sounds like a LOVELY place to be.
Dearest Anita
You post makes my heart sing! You have the ability, the soul and the love.. It will happen. Sooner than you might think. Our hearts are in the same part of the world this weekend. Bebe will explain.

Your little book should be with you very soon. I was a little delayed in sending it as life became hectic but sent it off on Thursday and should be with you in a couple of days.

History, a lovely getaway and inspiration...all in your post today! Your style of writing is light as a cloud, cool as a breeze and your words free my mind to imagine!
You really are such a beautiful writer, Anita. I love the thought and effort that you put into your posts and your warm demeanor always shines through. I love how you change your headers too. Have a wonderful weekend, sweet friend. xo
Pure JOY...can I come with you?
Now lets see...what is on your "free as a bird" agenda today my friend?
Fill it up with JOY..a day just for you! Maybe lunch out...some shopping...a nice stroll down a beautiful country road...farmers market...what will it be?
Me?....making a pretty cake for father's day...packing up a few closets...????
Happy weekend!
Comfort zone ... that's a keeper. Just cut of my sunflowers, they looked a little sad and now there are floating happily in a big bowl. Did you ever see the large sunflower fields in la douce France, ma chere amie? Well I did not actually but I know I will one fine day.
Now that your holidays are a hundred percent off, I am wishing you lots and lots of happy times in your comfort zone, happy creating, happy dreaming, happy enjoying your dream castle, happy times every time!
Lots of love for a fabulous weekend o xx o xx o
Ahhh love your post and so much of what I needed to hear since I took this leap (for me, anyway) into the blogosphere. I was so aprehensive and yet i am having so much fun, learning, expanding my tastes and horisons beyond my wildest expectations thanks to people like you Anita! Thanks so much. Oh, and the most precious thing of all these past four weeks in blogland has been meeting generous, helpful and supporting fellow bloggers that make my day with helpful emails and comments. I have loads to learn yet but what a wonderful way to learn to soar. Your words and pics are truly inspiring and i wish you much soaring and happy discoveries...

What WONDER fills my heart as I read your words... you have combined some history of Provence with your own struggles and dreams ... that are now taking flight.
WORDS are so powerful and a creative force. In the beginning.... God spoke everything into existance. He said, "Let there be light, and there was light" ... someday we will undertand this and then even more realize the power of our own words.
Thank you for speaking from your heart, words of hope and blessing.
You are a gifted writer and I am so blessed by your words Anita!

Your pictures are so beautiful. I always love visiting your blog. You are a wonderful author and I look forward to seeing more postings!

Yees, that is so wonderful! Good luck, Anita...! It will be perfect! And oh, I would have loved to capture that fairy moment for you. That's exactly what I want to do. Capture THE moment! But gifted you, can capture it with your writing, I'm sure! Have a lovely Saturday!

Ahhhh, that blue water photo is awesomely beautiful, Anita. So is Vanessa Jackman, one of my favorites.
Fly, always fly...
Lovely Anita. I do feel such a sympathy for your words.
As I try to explode from my comfort zone of blogging into a book, I feel alternately threatened and exhilarated. A thousand nagging voices tell me I can't but one pure little voice sings: "Dilegua, o notte! Tramontate, stelle, Tramontate stell, All'alba vinceró! Vinceró!' as true and clear as Pavarotti. May we all silence our demons and learn to fly!
Stepping out of our comfort zones is never easy....for some of us. The fact that you dared to put your toe out of it is what counts!~Hugs, Patti
Lovely Anita,
I always get lost in your beautifully written words and pictures. A talented lady such as yourself, can walk out of the comfort zone and never look back.
Have a wonderful weekend. Abby x
Thank you for this beautiful little getaway....for a brief moment, the pictures had the power to take me somewhere, beautiful and enchanted and far away and magical. Love this post!
Anita, i just came home to find your post - and - wow, i love it! Such great pictures and message. I imagined you sitting there and putting it all together in your unique way. I'm curious - did you take a writing seminar, or went to a conference? Anyway, i think you're getting better and better. Must look at all the pictures again now. And the new header is GORGEOUS! Have a lovely sunday Anita, i'm dreaming of provence ;)
I love the history, the Romans, France, your pictures and most of all your writing. Don't ever give up. Such talent should only be nurtured.....
you HAVE claimed it...
indeedy.
love this post (everyone of your posts actually).

Anita,
Obviously your meet up proved successful already, because it seems to have unleashed your secret powers. Powers of captivating an audience with your words, and beautifully illustrated as always. I see between the lines of the beauty in your post, the heart of a teacher in a new role. You are taking the layer of beautiful images, adding your ability to teach and finally the gift of seeing and sharing beauty with your readers.
I have watch you spread your wings and now you seem to be soaring. I love everything that you do Anita.
Karen
P.S. I meant to mention...when I arrived at your post the links below on LinkWithin showed the post about you being homecoming queen and your first crown. I reread that post. I think you should be a button on your sidebar to that post, it is so lovely!
Karen
Delightful! always a pleasure to see what you see.
Dearest Anita, you just do it! Reach beyond your dreams! It's freeing and a delight for us!

Hi Anita, just want to wish you a lovely sunday. Wind and rain here today, the right weather to stay in bed with a cup of tea! Am waiting for my parents, who live in austria, so we rarely see them. Did you get around to some gardening yet? Bises, xx
I thinking you are earning your wings on the way UP and your dreams and ambitions are on their way to coming true. To make it happen, you must first believe, then take a risk and JUMP and you will find time will allow you to soar. Fly high, learn much and DO what YOU love to DO!
Your words say SO MUCH!! I love how you write. It makes one stop and ponder...I know it does for me.
Beautiful pictures to go along side of what's being said.
Blessings dear one, blessings on your pen and paper(or ,and your fingers and P.C.)!
So you have rain as well! Somehow, i don't mind today being an "inside" day. Yes, it feels cozy and quiet, and now, that my parents - actually, my father and his wife, my mom died long time ago - are gone, i enjoy the quiet time. Fathers day in germany was in may already, here, it's an ordinary sunday. My dad had an operation on his back and still has a hard time walking ... I promise myself to keep doing Yoga, to keep my spine flexible and fit! ANd now, back to Provence dear, it's just too pretty! xx
Anita, love love love the song!!!
C´est super!!!!
Lovely images, lovely words, wonderful thoughts!!
Only YOU!!!
Have a great week, bright dear friend!!!
Love, Bela
Good evening my friend! I hope you had a wonderful weekend. Thank you for your sweet comments on my posts. The lake that my dad was skiing was Glen Lake which is in northern Michigan. It is so blue and so clear. We are heading up there in a couple weeks for some family time and relaxing. I hope that you have a wonderful week and I will be thinking about you, this time of year must bring extra memories, hopefully they are good ones.
Love to you!

THANK YOU so much for your comment on the blog, meant so much to me.
Kristin
Dearest one, writing is in you... writing is YOU! I am so happy for you Nita, that now you can dedicate your summer time with your craft in which you are so gifted. I will be coming her as always...( a little late, blushing) because I love it so.
My favorite colour .....
RED and also Blue ....
I always write in red or blue .
I love to write with my fountainpens and have this beautiful colour aqua-blue to write with makes me happy .
One of my fountainpens is red and I have red ink in that one ..always .
And you ?
Anita, Here is my opinion, for what it is worth. Writing, just like artwork, comes from your heart and spirit AND a natural talent. I think you have the natural talent of putting pen to paper to express whatever you wish. I guess I have never been one to take "classes". Perhaps I am stubborn, perhaps I am too independent and uninterested in what so-called professionals think of my art or writing. It seems that they have too many "rules" that one must follow to be successful and I won't go with the flow. This has worked for me and not against. Just my thoughts on the subject. In my humble opinion, both you and Ruben are wonderful writers who don't need the advice of so called REAL writers. I mean, WHAT IS A REAL WRITER, anyway?
You, dearest Anita, are following your dreams!! I am so happy for you and know you will succeed. Following our dreams is so important, I remind my children of this ALWAYS.
I hope your summer is going well. I have a bit of a challenge in one of my courses, actually both of my instructors, and on top of that.. someone almost totaled my car last week! It's been eventful but all is well.
Wishing you a most lovely week!
xoxo, B
This is such an inspirational post, Anita! And just what I needed to hear too! I have been discouraged lately with my projects and work. I loved what you said in your last comment to me about "trying to force too many things rather than just let it flow". That is how I feel lately. It is so easy to force, but sometimes we need to find how to let it flow.
I hope you had a good weekend and continue to get closer to where you want to be in your writing. And remember, so many of us are in the same boat, whether it's with writing or painting or which career path to take, etc. I hope to claim Provencia!
Have a beautiful Monday! xoxo
Shawna
Dearest Anita, you amaze me how you weave knowledge with pictures and poetry to tell a story and keep the reader in suspense, wanting to know more. Your talent is definitely growing wings and Im sure the journey ahead will be just as amazing. Your house sounds gorgeous with the descriptions of your wonderful ideas. I look forward to more!!
Thank goodness, Anita dearest, that you are following your dream. The rest of us benefit so greatly from your writing, your inspired thoughts, and your amazing talent and impeccable taste. I know that I get inspired with every trip I make to your "provincia". This beautiful blog, your creation, your wings.
Thanks, beautiful Anita!
Besos.
Anita.... so beautiful as always! You are conquering new horizons in your writing and you will fly! I have been so busy and am finally able to relax .... we fly to Paris tomorrow and I will do posts from there and will be thinking of you! Bon nuit and all my best wishes always!
Frances
Thanks for the lovely tour of Provence, you made it so interesting and almost magical. Your writing is enchanting, you are definitely soaring high reaching for your goals and dreams. Talented as you are, you never fail to share with us your dreams and aspirations in a very lovely way.
You really have a beautiful mind and a gentle heart inside you ♥
Oh, Anita, i can see you wearing stripes and tulle, along with a pretty basket for your shopping- and i love your attitude! Girls just need to have some fun sometimes ;) Hey, have a toast for me tonight if you like - it's my birthday today. It's raining, sadly. But later, some of my best girlfriends are coming over and i hope we'll take pictures with our umbrellas, dancing in the rain! xox
That first step is always the most frightening. But taking chances makes you feel alive, makes everything possible and is the only way to make your dreams a reality.
Fly away, Anita!
Anita:
Re dairy free ice cream: I wonder if using coconut milk would work? Not only is it delicious, but nice and creamy too. Bet there are some recipes online.
Happy week, my friend....
You are such a dear soul... Thank you for visiting again this morning. ahhhhhhhhhhh, love this music and your beatiful thoughts...
Do you think Bebe can keep it up... She is getting a bit tired. But a GOOD tired.. I told her not to start traveling till summer, but she actually started in the spring.. Wanted a head start I guess. teeehee. She sent me a wire to ask if Maurice could come to my party in Nowhere... He is in Italy!

I just know you are going to soar--so much creative spirit inside of you.
And now, I'm more excited than ever, because we are off to Provence tomorrow. Can't wait!
Anita,
You do write so very beautifully. I always feel a bit swept away when I visit you. Sorry it has been so long, but had blog problems for a while, finally got a new one going and hope to keep it up and running. I will be by again to be blessed here.
Dear Anita, how nice of you to stay for some afternoon tea!! Hope you enjoyed it!! I just visited Vanessa, and I'm so glad I did! Thanks for the link! Have a BEAUTIFUL day, enjoy your reading and get inspired!! I love Summer!
xx's
Good for you, Lovely Anita! I can't wait to hear more about your writing adventures. Risk! It's the only way to fly! Thank you for your visits. And no, I'm not living in Paris at the moment (though I have lived there, have a place there and was just there last month) but wish I was. Please do share more about your recent writing adventures.
xoxo~ Kirsten
Thankfully, I was the only person in the car and I am just fine.. thank you for asking. The boys were at the university and my daughter was with a friend. He said he didn't see me and, fortunately, was honest enough to acknowledge that it was entirely his fault.
As far as my instructors, one allows the classroom to be a playground and, until last night, spent his time talking and laughing rather than helping. I bring my IPOD and purchased two additional books to help me learn the programs (Illustrator, InDesign and Photoshop). I am unfamiliar with them and hoped to learn them. In regards to the other class, while I was taking an online test Saturday evening, we briefly lost power due to a storm and my laptop briefly shut down. At the time, I didn't realize it was lightening outside. I was on question 19 of 20 and I was not given credit for any of it nor was I able to complete the quiz. I immediately emailed my instructor and explained what happened but he has yet to return my emails and the quiz was due at noon today. It's worth 100 pts and he informed us that we need to study all of the previous tests we've taken for our midterm next week. I drove to school this morning but he did not show up today. I know missing this quiz will effect my grade.. I've worked very had for my 4.0 GPA and I don't want something like this to compromise it. I think the part-time instructors aren't as invested.
The Beauty Detox Solution is wonderful! I eat TONS of fruits and vegetables but I can't eat a raw diet completely. I also love Starbucks but gave up my morning coffee. I try to drink decaf but I don't think it's a healthy choice regardless. I never eat fast or junk food and make the best choices I can when dining out. I don't find many healthy choices at school either. I definitely could never give up champagne or macarons! One great piece of advice that she gives is that fruits should be eaten before protein. I have never thought of that!
I hope you are enjoying your summer and your writing class is going well. One of my girlfriends is taking a screenwriting class. It sounds like so much fun! I wish I could only take courses that I loved!
Wishing you a lovely week of sunshine.
xoxo, B
Oh, such a story you tell! I can see you are a superb teacher, holding her class spellbound, as she unfolds the history of this most beautiful region of France, weaving words around sublime images! And that quote! You are certainly building beautiful wings of words!
loved my visit here today!
and was just thinking how appropriate it was that Ruben was called Ruben Riviera when I realised I'd read it wrong!!!

Ahhh.....my sweet Anita... As always.....a perfect post. And, every journey begins with the first step, right? :-) Just keep moving in that direction.... Every bit of your "art" is superb....and the reward will be there.
Yep, I think our mothers were separated at birth!... oh my.... very much the same, weren't they? I can't bear to waste and it really is a challenge to make, fix or remake something from nothing... It's really my passion..... to have beauty on a shoestring. God has blessed me soooooo. I have learned to do sooo many different things so I could have the things I want.... and He's RIGHT THERE.... helping me along.
Huggies to you dear one...

As always...you have captured my soul with your post. I want those pink shoes next to the vase of flowers!
Well, dear, I was able to go down to Los Angeles for four days this past weekend and stayed in Orange County 3/4ths of a mile from Old Town Orange.
It is still very lovely there, even if we have been gone from the area for 29 years. The antique stores are all still there, Yes!!!
And there are lovely eateries on all four corners and down the side streets...it seems to be the 'hang out' in the evenings for the 'in' crowd. Loved every minute of it.
I felt like I went back in time, it was a really 'feel good' trip.
Yes, and we drove by Whittier and Pico Rivera on the freeway, and past Beverly Dr. Good old stomping grounds!!! Was thinking of you when we were there.
smooches to you~

Hello,
I just visited your blog today. I really enjoyed all of your pictures. There are many pictures from different countries. My daughters traveled through Europe a few years ago, and took many wonderful pictures. I think my favorite picture on here is the one of the baby. I was reading your "About Me" and we have alot of the same interests. We love photography too. Me and my daughters just started a new blog, and we would love it if you could visit us and follow. The link is: http://redrosealley.blogspot.com We did a post on "Heritage," and it will show pictures of Athens, Greece you might like. Hope to hear from you, and have a sweet day. We love all things beautiful too.
