Just in time! I have been quasi fuming over the fact that it took my beloved two years to finally help me bring in my Persian rugs from the garage (dwarf star heavy), instead of being grateful that he works so hard so that I can home school and blog and do all the things I have dreamed about doing since I was an orphaned child!
He has toiled in the Summer sun to help me plant hundreds of boxwoods for my parterre, hauled (literally) tons of pea gravel and mulch and compost...
I was sick last week and he bought me soup AND a decorating magazine!
He wrote a poem about six stray cats on ten persian rugs...(the rugs are stacked in our family room for now).
Mostly, Mr. Matter of Fact LOVES Mrs. Stargazer...

Simply beautiful. The image of the little old mans hands with the dandelion is my favorite. Sometimes life keeps us so busy that we forget to thank the ones we love for all of their support, help and love.

I hope you are having a good night, are you taking care of yourself. I too woke with a sore throat. The weather is cold and snowy so it is a perfect Friday night.

Take care my friend,

Dear Anita,
I got tears in my eyes (tears of joy) when I saw the picture of the son. It so reminded me of my son, who I am very close to. Sons stir our hearts in so many ways, and mine is a wonderful soul. I can totally relate to this post because my husband is a builder. He has worked from the ground up as a carpenter to running huge projects. This message of appreciating our loved ones is such a special one, and I am sure your husband is so happy that you acknowledged him in this post. I love all the pictures. They are incredible, and went beautifully with your story. I've seen that first picture before, and it is a favorite of mine. Happy Valentine's Day to my sweet Anita. I hope you and your husband have a special day of love.

Well my sweetie has spent the last month with tools, paints, sandpaper, stripper, molding, joint compound, etc, etc, etc... creating a bathroom fit for a queen. Tonight, after a long day covered in sawdust, we stood in the "nearly finished" room surveying it with satisfaction and he said "Happy Valentines Day"... what a great guy!

Ah...men...what a deep subject. If someone had said it's going to be a bumpy ride I wouldn't have believed them... but life is a bumpy ride. But the good times out weigh the bumpy times and makes us better persons able to play in the waves instead of being taken away with the tide. Sorry, being a bit nostalgic and thoughtful here. Let's get our harps out and play romantic songs of love and thankfulness to the men in our lives who are REAL men after all!
They do deserve some applauds from the balcony! Hee! Hee!

Anita.....what a wonderful post and generous tribute to all the great men out there. I feel blessed to have a father who showed me the world literally and figuratively, who made me the person I am, and a husband who at 22 married me and helped me to continue being the person I was meant to be. So thank you for this beautiful reminder for me to stop and think about how special they are to me and about the impact they have had on my life.
Is that your hubby? He is adorable and just from the pics, looks like such a great man!

Hello dearest Anita!
What a lovely post, and I was so filled up after reading it that I sent a text to my husband at work to say I loved him. He has just replied... 'What do you want?'! I thought that was so funny, but it did make me realise that I do not say it enough!
What a great picture of Ruben, your own Prince Charming, and I love his comment... although I misread it at first. I thought he wrote 'this got me in the mood to hang from a chandelier'!! Teehee :) I am behind with writing posts but am trying to catch up with everyone this weekend. Not long until the show now, but the director is away this weekend so we have some time off. Phew! I need it!
Hope you are keeping well and I wish you and your dear husband a wonderful weekend.
Our darling Spotty boy is lame. He has seen the vet and is on a course of treatment to get him better. I have of course given him a special 'Anita hug'.
Love to you dear friend, Abby xx

He holds my hand through all my dreams, hopes, and disappointments. He is so efficient. He is a wonderful father. Thank you so very much dearest Anita. What a SWEET, sweet post! It reminded me of how a person's perception of romance can make a drastic change over time. I know it has for me. These days, a romantic gesture from my husband is putting the kids in bed so I can blog, or bringing breakfast home on Saturday morning (like he did today). And I think he feels that my saying a sincere "thank you" is being romantic back.

You're so right-on as usual. I hope your Valentine's day is the sweetest and the best with your Love!

Hi Anita!

I forgot to mention how dreamy your studio looks! It's beautiful enough for a magazine.

Thank you so much for sharing what you have done in your garden with arborvitaes at my place today. There is a beautiful home in my town where the owners did the same thing to fantastic affect. I feel your pain about the blast of arctic air. I woke this morning to wind chills of 5 degrees above 0. It appears that I have already lost one arborvitae and one 20' tall Leyland cypress this winter. The arborvitae is not part of a hedge, so it can be replaced without too much trouble, but that great big tall cypress almost makes me want to shed a tear! Together, we'll keep our fingers crossed for your hedge. I hope it holds out!

Thank you for alerting me the Garden of Marqueyssac. I did not know of it, but OH MY Goodness, how gorgeous! Now that I do, I will have some fun reading a researching!

Have yourself a wonderful week!

I got my surprise this weekend. Nel brought it over on Sunday, and I opened the wrapping, and saw my beautiful gold bird box, and along with it a decorative soap. I LOVE IT!! Thank you so much. I am going to put it right on my desk, so I can see it throughout the day often. Happy Valentine's Day, Anita, and I hope you have a blessed day.

He has provided laughter, the gut wrenching kind that clears the soul.

He has provided my milk and cookies and all food on the table for 24 years so far.

He has picked me up, hung up my clothes, nursed me back to wellness, bandage ugly wounds, loved me anyway and always.

He has forgiven me and showed me right from wrong.

He has played hard with me and played soft with me...

He said I do..and meant it, over and over and gave me second chances when I needed it most.

He has loved me, for reasons I'll never know.

In love,
Jacueline

What a gorgeous smile he has! I always tell my honey that he has no idea what it does to make my heart go pitter patter when he does some "honey dos" around the house so I loved this picture!

Mine wrote me a beautiful love note. I think that is one of my favorite things!

Hope you had a wonderful day for Valentine's Day!

Well my dear dear friend Anita.
I'm only a couple days late to wish you and Ruben a Happy VD, but to me this whole month is of LOVE. Not only are my boys the loves of my life, but Randy is the jewel in my Tiara. Why he puts me on that very tall pedestal all the time I'll never know. I need to put him there since he has been my rock, my soul mate, my true love for nearly 24 yrs. now.
We had a lovely day together, but my V. treat for him will be on Sat. There is a chef cook off from Montréal, Québec, and Ottawa competing for a titile during the day in our village, then the chefs make us a five course meal, wine included ; ) My cousins are coming too. I've never been, but I know Randy will get a kick out of watching the chefs create and cook before our eyes. We are also going to Nordic Spa. Not too far from here. Outdoor hot pools, massages, wine and appetizers. I'll feel like I'm in another world. Looking forward to that one on Sunday.
Visited with Sister Lolotte yesterday to celebrate VD. We had CC's special tea she sent Sister and some chocolates. It was a feast of Beaver Tails for all the nuns at the convent. They had chocolate all over the place, just like giddy children. Beaver tails is a type of pastry that is fried into a flat pancake type. You top it with cinnamon and sugar and lemon or Nutella and fresh fruit. Yummy. We call it WInterlude the last 3 weeks of Feb. We skate on the longest skating rink in the world. Remember I blogged about a while ago? Anyway it was a wonderful day with Sister and my sister Debbie. It was Julie's birthday yesterday. She turned 50!!! Oh to be 50 again. I think that was by best year. 56 this March already ouch!!
Well Randy and Colt just arrived. Time for a little steak and salad with a glass of wine for Randy.
Lovely post for a sweet Valentine Anita. I know Ruben adores you... it shows.
Sending you moon beans and sunshine my friend.
Love you
Love me

Dearest Anita
Just stopping by to say hello, was thinking of you and haven't even posted a new post on my own blog for a week! I had a sinus cold which was not much fun, but I am on the mend and hope to go see 'The Woman in Black' with my sister on Saturday...Gothic sinister ghost story with Daniel Radcliffe. I hope I don't freak out! My twenty-one year old son said he went to see it (he's down in Los Angeles going to college) anyway he said it IS very scary, and even had to cover his eyes in one of the scary parts!
Maybe I'll get some ideas for Victorian dolls from the vintage clothing in the movie. I probably will dream of ghosts after I see it! Ha!
Sweet dreams~
