Anita,
You have created another poetically encouraging post. "What the world needs is a return to sweetness and decency." You are my light of sweetness and decency in a world that has much of the opposite at times.
Love,
Ruben
Anita...this is so beautiful...I agree with you and Ruben...the world needs to return to sweetness and decency...
See you in Paris.

Hello Anita, Love the thoughts in this post! I'm not going to be available to participate as I thought so will need my name removed from the list. I do, however, really look forward to visiting the other posts!!
Thanks so much.
BRAVO ANITA!!!!! If this won't get someone pumped up then I dont' know what will and with the powerful music...its brilliant!! YES to trying new things, savoring the moment and just living life the way you WANT to live life. Wonderful post!!!!!!
What a fun post! I'm going to find 'Roman Holiday' now and watch it! You've inspired me. I found you on Saturday Steps with George and Tess. You mentioned Minnehaha Creek. Are you in Minnesota? If so, I'm next door in NW Wisconsin. We're practically neighbors. lol Stop in sometime. :-)
Bonjour Anita. Je ne t'ai pas rendu visite depuis quelque temps deja et je le regrette. Ce billet est superbe, comme d'habitude, et avec une belle philosophie! Looking forward to reading more about your -and your friends' - Paris adventures. I am intrigued! Veronique (French Girl in Seattle)
Anita absolutely brilliant and stunning post. You always showcase the best of our culture. Sincerely love it. Looking forward to Paris with much anticipation. Have a lovely weekend. Its our Queens Diamond Jubilee week after next and everyone is getting behind it.

Absolutely wonderful post Anita. Yes, the world needs a lot more sweetness and decency . I'm looking forward to finding out what your Paris trip is about.

Dear Anita, another inspiring post ! I believe the world needs to return to decency and simplicity of life...oh, gelato - so sweet ! Are you sure our Paris party starts next week because I have been preparing my post for the week after that , June 8? Or you perhaps will be in Paris before me :)

Inspiring my dear friend!
Such a beautiful post and I LOVE listening to Pavoritti. I have a wonderful video of Plácido Domingo, José Carreras and Luciano Pavarotti.. I just love it, and your images here of Audrey have inspired me.
See you on June 8th... I hope to have Bebe ready.
Bisous,
Penny
Beautiful post, Anita, and thank you for thinking of "my people". (hahahaha)
We posted at almost the same time today... :)
We have much to talk about and I agree with Ruben: all three of us should talk. I'm looking forward to that.
Your encouraging words this morning were like someone wrapping me up in a warm blanket on a bitterly cold day.
Thank you...from the bottom of my heart.
My love to you and Ruben. xo

I am looking forward to the adventure Anita. One ? Do we post each day or can we do one big post that we leave up for the entire week. Now I want to watch Roman Holiday! ox

Was asked years ago which Hollywood star I would sleep with, if I could.
Had the answer a week later, Gregory Peck.
My key chain is Winnie The Pooh, "An adventure was going to happen." Piglet's legs & ears have worn away & Winnie is burnished smooth by my adventures.

I don't even know what it's called, what you do in your posts. What do YOU call it?
Mon Dieu qu'ils étaient beaux !

Hello lovely friend,
What a great post you have.I love that movie.
You will certainly be glad that your school is almost done? Then you can do what you always wanted to do far away from school. I'm so happy for you.
Hugs,

Just found your gorgeous blog from Spain (and via the lovely Catherine Robinson).
A lovely reminder of how to stop and smell the roses wherever we are x
Hello Anita,
I agree.
Sometimes we look for advices but is totally true... the more you love your decisions, the less you need others to love them...I love the way you post!!
Espero que estés muy bien, te mando un fuerte y cariñoso abrazo

Beautiful post! Wonderful thoughts. I am working on
getting myself in the mood to

Oh Anita what a fabulous post...I love it...I'm sitting up here in bed on this cool Sunday morning and it just made me smile to read your words...Thank you for calling in last night...how very special to go with your Mum for those little notions...as always, sometimes it's just the little things that make our day...A big cheers to you across the miles...love Dzintra xo
100% agree with a return to sweetness and decency. This modern world has created so much confusion and unhappiness. I often look at my Dads pics when he was young and marvel at the innocence and simplicity but the happiness that glows in his photos. Fiona
What a beautiful thought provoking post. I love the line, the more you love your decisions, the less you need others to love them. My motto is to thine ownself be true. Love Audrey and Gregory Peck in this movie. I love the creative use of fonts in your posting too.
So much loveliness in this post! I love all that you wrote and the quotes, especially the one about loving your decisions...it came right on time...
Dear Anita
You have inspired me today.. Drawing for a good part of it. Thank you so much for visiting again. I cannot wait to see the Opera shoes!
I am loving this post... Bebe is doing her best to get all her bags packed for Paris...
Bisous, Penny
"The more you love your own decisions, the less you need others to love them". Oh, Anita dearest! I remember being young and innocent and thinking I had to please those around me. Not too long ago I came to realize that not only that is an impossible task, but is totally unnecessary! Thank goodness for the wisdom that seems to come with age. I now enjoy the freedom of living with my own choices and their consequences. It makes life so much more wonderful!
You are TRULY inspiring, Anita. I thank heaven that one blessed day, I stumbled upon your blog. You have this amazing ability to touch our hearts through your poetry.
I wish you the very best in your new endeavors! You will do GREAT (you already do!). Besos.
Silvia
Dearest, I LOVE LOVE LOVE this movie!!!
All of the images are delicious...
And can you believe, I was about to post the quote "the more you love your decisions..." on witty!
I love that quote, as well as the others here..so many wonderful, joyful things that you have included, my dear friend...
Rome is spectacular...but I can't wait till Paris! :)
Poetic and splendid...GRAZIE BELLA!

Nice tribute to one of my fave movies of all time, Roman Holiday.
My Mom introduced that movie to me.
And yes Anita to that wonderful idea of finding my own adventure... love it ♥
You never fail to inspire me.
Awwwwww, Anita, this post makes me crave a few days in Rome again! I love his city, the ancient buildings, the atmosphere and elegant epople, all spiced up by italian language and esprit! Lovely pictures you found. And, thank you for your sweet comment yetsreday. Yes, living in a means world can be tough, i tell ya! But i still love my guys ;) Enjoy your countdown to freedom - am counting with you!
Dearest Anita

The birthday celebrating was huge
and I will write you all about it in a letter .
So .....tomorrow I will sit down and write ...

Bonjour!
oh my. Our internet is having issues since my husband dropped the modem yesterday while moving furniture in my studio and I was not able to get into email, but even though it took a while I could sign into my blog, so here I am to say hello to you my dear!!!
I worked on the garage all day yesterday, and so a big chunk is once again checked off of my 'to do' list..... Everything must be moved out of here by Wednesday, and we are cleaning on Thursday, let me tell ya, it just does not feel normal to put everything one owns into boxes!!! Whew! And not just moving the entire house contents, but also an entire artists studio.... somehow I will be done and hopefully ready to participate in your PARIS link party next week!!!!!
Gonna go try my email again before getting back to work...
LOVE!
~ Violet
Your writing is just divine. I love how the pictures accent your words.

Bonjour!
What a treat is was to see your encouraging words about my sketch of Audrey Hepburn.. It means alot coming from you.. I have always loved her so much.. She was such a beautiful soul... I realize there is room for improvement, but was pleased with my first attempt. If there is even a small resemblance I am pleased. Last week I attempted to sketch Katharine Hepburn and I have to say that was a real challenge and did not come out well at all. I thought I had it and then poof! nope... Practice, practice and practice some more right?
I may have to have Tea Rat have a talk with Bebe... She is just being a little pill and not cooporating at all, but I will make sure she is ready for Paris.
Bisous!
Penny
I've never had the pleasure of seeing this movie...but now, I must!!
I can't wait to view Paris again through your eyes!
Love and hugs to you dear friend!
Much love,
Deborah xoxo
Perfect, perfect perfect!!! Oh my... now I have a problem! I want to watch Roman Holiday!!! Well, maybe I'll just look through your lovely and poetic posting once again instead (until the stores open tomorrow that is!!)
Blessings, dear Anita,
Ann
Dear Anita,
What a charming charming post. I loved the picture of the streets of Rome with the blue car. Jess loved Rome - she said the food was especially good. She brought me back some rosary beads from the Vatican that I will always treasure. Wouldn't that be so fun to travel there? The laughing picture with the tree was my favorite. It made my heart sing when I read 'What the world needs is a return to sweetness and decency." Isn't that the truth? Where did the sweetness go, my friend? I think one of the things that I saw in you was the sweetness that you have for others. When I see someone that still has the sweetness in life, it makes me happy because that's exactly what we need more of. Thank you for keeping your sweetness. A little bit of that rubs off on all of us.
~Sheri at Red Rose Alley
ahhh Italy... Love Venise the most!
Can't wait for our party!!love you dear!
I loved this Anita. I would say that I love having all the day long to do whatever I want to do, even if it means I have to take my sweet son along : ) But freedom is a wonderful thing isn't it???
sending love...
Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous... count me in! xv
Good Morning Anita!
Lovely post.
You have a surprise waiting for you on my blog - please take a look!
Paula xxx
Can you believe I've never seen this film?!! New mission? Find it and watch it? Seriously, Italy and Audrey? Sounds like a perfect combination to me!! xo
Oh sweet friend...what a magical post! I am in love with those pretty bars you have as your first image...ooooooooh la la.
So you are off and running and the countdown begins...you are only days away of saying Goodbye! Oh what a grand feeling {maybe bittersweet????}
Thinking of you this week...I have 3 more teaching weeks!!!! Hugs.
Anita, You won that marvelous book!
Any way, what would I do with the "freedom"... I would start by eating that most delicious looking concoction at the top of the page, and then, I would off to the Lake District of Beatrix Potter's world.
Sweetness and Decency.. that would be nice.
Bonjour Anita darling.
You know that Roman Holiday was the Summer Breeze movie Randy picked for us to watch outside last summer?? We enjoyed it so much. I too wish it would have ended differently, but it was not meant to be. I want sweet back. I make sweet happen. I refuse to be around negativity.
Your grand French party in Paris sounds wonderful. I can't wait to see all the pretty posts.
You must be counting down the days now. You will be free as a bird to soar into the world of creativity all day long, 24/7, something you were meant to be doing a long time ago.
I wish nothing less than full blown success for you with love and encouragement from Ruben by your side as your main support. Of course we will all be here for you also. You can count on that one.
You are truly loved my dear Anita.
And I love you to the moon and back again.
xoxoxoxox
Such a lovely encouraging post.
Oh Anita, I LOVE that movie and I LOVE Rome!! I've already done my post for Paris and am looking forward to visiting everyone who joins the party! and maybe we should add a Rome party too?
I remember this movie, think I saw it 2 or 3 times. Of course Audry Hepburn was my favorite actress. Great post. Hugs...Lu
Oh, Anita! My very favorite Audrey Hepburn movie and Gregory Peck was so divine in it! Sigh... When I took my daughter to Europe several years ago we both pulled the same gag at The Mouth of Truth (La Bocca della Verità) - how could we not! And who does not love the beautiful Trevi? Bella Roma!
I have been away and did not know about your Paris Simply Irresistible Link Party. Count me in! I'll start thinking of a theme or favorite Parisian experience now! How to choose?
Lovely to visit you, as always!
Robin
As I said, PERFETTO!!! Sigh...you know my heart is in Italy, and you know how I love Audrey, but even more so how I love laughter and freedom and being true to ourselves. You've captured it all as usual, beautifully. And Pavarotti, "IL PEZZO DI RESISTENZA!!" :)
MUAH!
Marcia
Love, love, love the header to go with it too. I think I might just stay here all day. ;)
Oh Anita
What a wonderful party to join!!!
I read about it on Carolyn's blog "Little Bear Studio" - I'm also in New Zealand!
I'm flying out to PARIS this Friday and taking my computer with me....
I'm staying with my daughter and 3 granddaughters - if time permits I will check in and see how you're all enjoying yourselves. I would love to be part of the fun this year, but I suspect I will be very busy with a new baby in the house!
May I be on your list to join in the party next year??
hugs xox
Shane in New Zealand
I love what you said about loving decisions. Sometimes (OK, ALL THE TIME) I am hopeless at choosing what to do. I wonder whether it's the right thing to do or whether it will be a massive mistake. I am going to love my decisions for now on - thank you!!
Thanks for posting over at mine, I do love you for it and appreciate you spending the time to do it.
See you in Paris on the 8th!!
Hi dearest Anita!!!!
What a cool post!!! I love Audrey Hepburn!!!!
How was your weekend? It was SUPER hot & humid here. We kept remarking how it was more like July 4th weather than Memorial Day!!!
Today we decided to stay home & relax!!!
I have been watching shows I DVR'ed that I hadn't had a chance to watch yet....
Hope you had a wonderful weekend!!!!!
Hugs!!!! Shannon
Hi Anita, so looking forward to watching you travel down your new path to your adventure....lucky us who get to experience it along with you! This was one of my favorite movies with Audrey....taking place in Rome, a city from my birth place....I have loved every trip I have taken there...thank you for your sweet comment, and I am thinking about our trip to Paris....where will I decide to take your readers....loads of fun to anticipate! Your last day is coming up isn't it....!!!!!!! N.xo
Hi Anita, How was your weekend? Down here we've been with a lot of rain and cold weather. So I've been spending a lot of time baking a lately. I love what you said in this post about freedom and decisions-- make perfect sense! You are always inspiring others, thank you for sharing this :) Loving words...and gorgeous pictures of Rome too- I've never been to Rome but would love to go someday!
Hugs + Hugs
I think of you dear friend in my crazy busy life. Know that you are part of my heart and someday the days will be softer for me to visit. hugs always, Amy
Hi Anita!
Oh I do love your posts... and I enjoy reading Ruben's comments too :D
You are sooo right about this!
I often feel as though there are a few lifetimes I could live...
There's the little farm girl Maria
{that wants sweet little goats and chickens and a pond}
There's the Maria that lives in a flat in Paris {of course, one with a balcony and a flower shop just below}
There's the little shop owner Maria
that sells all sorts of vintage treasures.
...and the Maria that prepares for another school day tomorrow. I do love reading with my students... bringing them to new horizons in thinking and caring.
But ~ how these days are changing. Tomorrow, our students will have another day off, while we teachers will be at school spend HOURS dissecting the new APPR evalutation process. {YUCK!}
I'm giving it a year or two, Anita ~ then I will decide to either stay ~ or carve out another path.
Very well written, my dear ♥
A wish and a prayer for a sweet week ahead!
~ always ~
*Maria
I'm savoring the dream of a Roman holiday as I read this at bedtime. Maybe if I rush to sleep sometime soon, I can truly dream of Roman adventures all night long!
Hi ANITA,
Yes...such good words here. How are YOU? I hope you had a nice long weekend...and pretty soon, you'll have ONE BIG LONG WEEKEND? huh? :) It was nice having Rob home for 3 days...and this will be a short work week for him too.
Has anyone ever told you that you look like Audrey Hepburn? I think she is SOOO pretty!
Have a great week my friend.
Heidi
I love that first photo! And the one that says "The more you love your decisions, the less you need others to love them." I am so learning the truth of that recently!
Hello gorgeous! Thank you forvisiting me just now - made me smile! I thought you'd love these pastel meringues, somehow very Paris, no? Have a fantastic start to your week, Bisous!
Haven't seen that movie in ages, Anita! It was a charmer.
I am looking at your beautiful images and they are making me hungry and it is only 6am!
I am off and running...just wanted to wish you a happy day! I will be thinking of you all week as you bring a close to your school year. Enjoy sweet one.

Anita,
I am looking forward so much to all of these wondrous Bloggers descending upon Paris! And am preparing for my own exciting vacance (via the internet)...How I love this movie, and just enjoyed a few "free" days to enjoy life...it is so important!
xo you are nearly DONE with school my friend!
Nathalie
Holy French Tiara's...you have quite a list waiting for the BIG EVENT. Very cool.
I sooo love your pictures.
This was a fun post for me as it reminded me of being at Claudies this last summer....and we all sat outside in her GORGEOUS fairytale yard. He hubby put up the big screen and we sat outside, all snuggly with treats, and watched ROMAN HOLIDAY.
Such great old movies.!!!!!!!!!!!
So much of the CLASS that existed then, seems to have disappeared in smut, bad language, immorality, and crap....(my opinion)
So this certainly brought back all those fun memories for me.
There truly IS so much WORLD out there for us to experience. OH, to live long enough...!!!!!!!
hugs to you my sweet CLASSY friend
Oh! My! This is truly going to be a Paris adventure! I can hardly wait until June 8th for your Paris Party!
Just by the list of people who have signed up it will take at least a WEEK to get through everyone's blog!
What delicious delight!!!
Maybe I should participate??? Is there still a 'Room With a View' vacant for me??? I'll look on your previous post for the sign up information.
(I will also be emailing you too, we had a four day Memorial Day weekend and I am just catching up on my emails!)
Ciao!

I remember reading that Peck (LOVE LOVE LOVE HIM) insisted that she got above the line billing even though it was her first film... what a gent.
I could tour a landfill with Greg and think it was a great adventure. When you think about it, any day can be an adventure if you have the right mindset. Reading a book curled up on your sofa in the rain can be magic. Up to you to make it so. Believe and make it so.

What a lovely post! I adore Audrey . I bought my daughter a book called "Just Being Audrey"...it is a wonderful read and topics on many topics that open the floor to decisions with my daughter about Audrey. xoxo
i know the year is almost
over...ah...time for art...

an old typewriter...like
our poet friend tyler...

old typewriter...wish
we had kept it...but
really where do you get
the ribbons...i even
remember them too.
Is this where I sign up to win a trip to Paris? Or do I simply say what I like about Paris? I like wandering the streets, and do you know, I ran into a very cute grandmother with teenage granddaughter that spoke very lovely English to speak to us, as we were a bit lost..not too lost, only a bit. Haaa.
ps I'm your newest kindred spirit.
Hello Anita!
I love (and own) that movie.
You always do such a wonderful job of illustrating your narratives....A++

did i tell you you has a rare sort of tail wag? only some dogs have it, where instead of a side to side motion hers is a circular one! so funny to see her tail going round-and-round.
p.s. i almost forgot. when you have the time, go meet ms amelia bloomsbeary on my blog. the photo is not that great (i must try to take another when the light is better) but i think you'll love her!
