I am in love with your dressing table AND the mirror behind it. The girls at the end touched my heart so much. It reminded me of the talk we had yesterday that I appreciated so much. Now, is that your gorgeous house because the front of it looks different than what I remembered? Oh, there's the picture with the young man holding the bread from France! You sent it to me one time, and I loved it. While I was reading all the quotes in the cloud I thought "what a clever idea this is." You'll have to tell me how you did that.

I do hope that you continue writing. I was just telling Jess that you inspire me with your precious posts. Happy New Year, Anita. Keep shining your light and love for all to see.

OMG. I could have wrote these words myself. All of those doubts you so eloquently listed ... I have heard in my own ears. And truthfully I wonder each time I hit the publish button why I do this thing called blogging. But the quote by Charles Bukowski seems to express it so well..."My contest is only with myself".. and so I post for another day. Still wondering. And then I come here and see yet another bit of truth : to belong to a network of curious and fearless minds. Yes, I have to agree, that is a powerful part the blogging experience. Enough to keep me going for another day. :)
I love this post Anita and it was a wonderful way to begin my 2014. Blessings to you for expressing such deep and truthful feelings in your writing.

Morning Anita,
Phew, I finally made it here, late as usual 😛

The contest is indeed within ourselves, wise words indeed. If I had a dollar for every doubt I would be a wealthy woman by now, but where would we be without the doubts. I believe they are the fuel for our fires. Without them we would have to believe we were already perfection, they drive us on to reach higher goals. You have nothing to doubt my friend, just attempts. Sometimes they work, sometimes they don't. The alternative to not trying is much worse, stagnation. Keep on doubting and keep on attempting, they make us who we are. You are a special lady.
Happy New Year my friend!

I have been guilty of shameless neglect with my blog, I think I started about the same time as you too...but sitting in our sick household over the holidays with a lot of downtime, I made a little decision to renovate my tired old blog and give it a whirl again :) . Not too often and maybe not too fabulous, but when I look at the years of posting and the wonderful friends like you that I met through blogging, i don't want to close the door just yet! And I promise to visit more! One request, please add your email subscription back in, that way I won't miss any posts!

Dear sweet Anita your words this morning left on my blog nean ao so much to me! You really understand how I feel I understand how you are feeling too... I would feel the same way. The world has changed since I was a little girl. The competition and striving just crush me. Just as you said YOU are a good teacher...stay true to that and let everything else fall to the wayside. Soon enough you will be home again where your heart can freely soar and sing. Maybe you will write books :)

Oh so perfectly said for many of us! and that is so RIGHT ON about remembering why we started, I have been saying that a lot lately to keep going. many that used to follow have stopped. but then I realized I too stopped following many others...nothing serious, we simply change and have new or different interests. I am so thrilled to have found you Anita. you put on a lovely sincere show...for lack of a better way to say this (you have a better way with words;) you are extremely inspirational on so many levels as well as PURE ENJOYMENT I get from your photos, how they are presented and more.
and then on another funny note about our small world. I was born in Montebello, we lived in East L.A. very dangerous area...so we moved when my folks were able and I grew up in Whittier ;) which was 20 miles from the coast...the rest you know pretty much. How 'bout that. I love how the internet provides us the meeting of special people (like you) from all over the world. thank you for your wonderful comments...I just cannot believe how you answer when you have such an enormous following. Grateful I am, but it's never an expectation, sincerely not. Happy New Year. xoxo and I hope you will continue with your special MESSAGES and PHOTOS and MUSIC!

Thank you, Anita. You know all too well how much I struggle with this as well.
I cannot believe I had not spotted this latest post until this morning when I clicked over to Bloglovin to update my profile.
It's perfect, my dear. Doubt is the enemy of faith, and "faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things UNSEEN." There is so much going on behind the visible, in the realm of the invisible, right alongside those magnificent ideas that did not have the results we hoped for or few comments on a page. This is what always keeps me steady, trusting the unseen.
I for one am very happy that you are still here in this land of blog, my friend.
Here's to continuing to enjoy the grand adventure together.

First off, I hope you are not freezing up there! As for why we started blogging, I can only speak for myself , and sometimes wonder why I continue. I question how many really read my posts, aside from my faithful friends I am beginning to think that blogging is becoming passe as comments decrease and readers lose interest only commenting out of a sense of duty. So, I pinch myself and remember why I started to blog in the first place; to practice my writing and storytelling skills, and record my artistic endeavors for myself as a sort of scrapbook to look back upon. I guess I never really expected it to come to much as far as furthering my art following, But,I have made some lovely friends and acquaintances and for that I am grateful.

We have a major snowstorm happening here!!!! We got about a foot of snow and now we have blizzard gusting winds and VERY ice cold temperatures!!!!!! Last winter was do tame compared to this year!!!!!
Hope you had a great weekend!!!!
Sending love & hugs,
Shannon

Yes,I think We must blog for Ourselves. The reason I started was so simple, to see if I could find" Kindred Spirits" out there in the world.I have two sisters and one brother that I LOVE with all My heart and enjoy My time with Them. They do not seem to like the same things I like. They are in ways like Me very much-biology ,shared history and family But a true kindred Spirit is different then all that.I was so surprised to find so many in blogland. What really still surprises Me is how different these kindred spirits are in other ways ,like "stations"in life. Some are very uneducated and poor and others are very wealthy and highly educated, but still something very special makes Us all kindred spirits,It's all so very interesting to Me-Love and hugs Denise

Hi Anita,

How are you surviving these frigid temps of yours?! Are schools going to be shut down longer than just today? BRRRRRRRRR!!!!!! I can't even imagine it being that cold. Today I saw a video of a gal that lives in MN. She went outside with a hot water in a cup - threw it up into the air - and it came down as SNOW, INSTANTLY! It was really cool to watch. (no pun intended)!!!

Well, my dear...I hope things are well for you. Stay warm!

Love,
Heidi

How are you doing today?

Just wanted to come by and thank you so much for your consistent visits and lovely comments on my blog.
They are very much appreciated and enjoyed.
I have the feeling in person we would end up talking for hours, going back and forth looking at parts of out homes and garden we had worked on or wanted to work on!
Hope you have a great day and week,

Dear Anita,

For one moment I thought you were you going to say: this is it, I will call it a day and end my blog. Can't tell you how relieved I am!

Congratulations on your blog anniversary. Six years is a long time! For me it's almost five :-). The questions you asked yourself sound familiar to me as well. There is always doubt.....Fortunately those moment only last for a short time and happiness and gratefulness take over. The blog opened a door for me, with new friends, visits to far away countries, tea parties in the garden....I would miss it all so very very much. I would miss you and your lovely posts and comments too. So PLEASE continue :-)

Happy day!

Dear Anita, Happy Anniversary and I am so glad to have met you and that you continue to blog. It is with great joy and peace that I read your poetry and am calmed by your images. We all go through this self doubt ( yes, who really cares?) and whether it is worthy of our time, but it does fill a creative network space that has not been filled before; I didn't even know I had a need to fill that space, but I know I am most happy with constant inspiration. Thank you for your part in all of this and I wish you the best year ahead! xo Nancy

So I hope the temps have turned to the norm again for you in MN. Thanks for your fun comment. I was not at my comp at all yesterday. So just saying 'greetings' here today. You know which photo I love in this post? The one of the gal with leather and a fur vest and the great platinum, Marilyn Monroe hair tone. I WOULD LOVE MY HAIR TO BE THAT LIGHT. Dreams do happen you know! ♥

Found your exact Winnie the Pooh quote on a pewter keychain over 2 decades ago. Still on my key chain and my adventures have worn away Pooh's right ear and Piglet's left leg.

How often have I read the quote again at red lights !!!

Yes, understand. My garden designs only compare to Nature, history, the site, every bit of IQ, art & energy I can muster personally. How could the output of my days be compared otherwise? To someone else's work? Impossible.

Thank you for sharing your work with us, pure grace.

Garden & Be Well, XO Tara

Golly, we all ask all the same questions. Most of the reason some people are successful at what they love is pure dumb luck. People with ideas as good or better fall by the side of the road. Remember what made you want to do it in the first place and tie your spirit to your dreams. Doing anything to make money or make someone else happy rarely ends well. Happy 2014, lovely Anita.

Hello my beautiful unique very special sweet friend
I have read your last post , over and over
I wrote all the words down in my note-book
I love to read and than write down with my pen and paper .
I love to handwrite , makes me calm ,
I love to be able to read it over and over to let in.
That's why I love the handwritten letters the most .
The pleasure of the sound of the mailbox , to see an envelop , a poststamp , a handwriting
the jump my heart makes when I recognize the sender .....
the joy of making coffee first and just look at the letter ....not opening yet.....
and than..... all set .....sit down and enjoy ALL OF IT
I love to cherish the letter and being able to take it in my hands again .
I also love to open a box years later and be surprised all over again .......
but
the blogging friendship is different .
In blogging there is NO DISTANCE
sending letters askes for a whole other effort ......
a comment is always very poor ....
just words and scentenses ...... no embellisment possible
Maybe that is one of the reasons some depart and choose for Facebook .
a need to belong to a network , you write above .....
wonder if you should clip your wings and stop....
You always remember why you started ........because
the truth always has a way of surfacing .
Showing beauty where it is not supposed to be found .

THE GREATEST SECRETS ARE ALWAYS HIDDEN
IN THE MOST UNLIKELY PLACES
is my favorite quote from Roald Dahl

You have so so many followers and comments
Imagen ....for one time every-one would send you a real letter ......
what joy that would be .......
Dear friend , you are always in my thoughts and mind .

Always a joy and a pleasure to have you there.
H.B. said to tell you we tidied up her punctuation .
Sometimes she hits post before I get a chance to check thing over , excitement really.
I told her you were a teacher and she needs to take note of things like that ~ giggle :))

Unable to dance for the past 6 months due to injuries have made me wonder what could be more beautiful than my passion to study ballet? I ask for a challenge....then I come upon this post. It touches me deeply. The CONTEST is always within me....I do not have to look outside myself for a challenge...and...remember why you started. I began a blog because I wanted to connect with fellow artists and yet I find myself observing others rather than being a participant most of the time. I remind myself there are seasons...a time to dance and a time to grieve and therein lies the beauty when we look for it. Thank you Anita.
