1, 2, 3...Action:
As was his routine at the end of the day
Monsieur Balzac wanted to wander and play
In and around all the Parisian parks
The Tuileries was one of his favorite landmarks.
He'd putt-putt his way in his little machine
all shiny and bright and incredibly clean.
Once he would get there he'd frolic and stray
on the grounds of the park he would spend all the day
exploring and looking for something brand new
to tear or to sniff or devour and chew
Until he met up with a certain artiste
who happened to spot him with l'accordioniste
"Ce chien est charmant, vachement rigolo!"
he cried out in French and named him Toto.
For Balzac smirked incessantly with his famous grimace
like the artist's main character in his book called Audace!
They made their acquaintances one afternoon
and since, every night under the bright Paris moon
they read the adventures of Toto the great
so much that Balzac was to meet an odd fate
for his link to Toto was incredibly strange
that he suddenly found himself totally changed
his fur had a feel like no other "boy"
Can you guess what had happened? He turned into a toy!
The artist would read from his book to the crowd
while Balzac charmed the children, oh how he was proud
that everyone loved him and stroked his ruff fur
however he couldn't utter one GRRRRR!
There he stood lifeless but loved nonetheless
but how he had wanted to get out of this mess!
END ACT 2
"Bravo! Encore! Author!"
Oh, you are too, too kind.
No really, please, you are such a marvelous audience!
What will be become of Balzac? Please come back next Saturday and see Act 3. In the meantime, start thinking about how you would like to see the final act, act 4 come to an end! Next week I will mention the details of our playwrights' night. Do stay in the lobby and mingle with the crowd! There are plenty of goodies left to nibble on!
A la prochaine! So don't forget, act 3 is next Saturday and then it is entirely up to you to submit a final act!

what ever can little Balzac do...
can he change his fate.. and maybe the link to Toto too?
Bravo Madame!
Act II was so interesting. What will happen to Balzac?? Oh my. What will Act III bring? I'm on the edge of my seat. However I am going to take this opportunity to take my front row seat after I have champagne & chocolate in the lobby since you removed the calories.
Bisous, Sherry
Bravo. Oh, all the videos make me want to go and live there. That dog surely has a wonderful life. I loved that purple dress and the artist in the center looked amazing. Thank you for this wonderful play and I wonder what you will design for Act III.
I think I saw myself in that audience applauding.

unable to catch a descent cab in the city, I had to walk to the theatre, and my soiled dress is now ruined!!
blast it!
I think I missed some of the act.
Delightful! Thank you so much for the champagne and calorie-less chocolates, I Love them!
I j'adore the picture of M. Balzac in his Sopwith Camel ready to defend France...I can hear him now...RRRRufffff, and now mes petit pour la France!
By the way are you enjoying my fire engine red Vivienne Westwood as much as I am? I made a quick dash to la toilette for a change in frocks. A different dress for each Act - it is tres fun! Come visit me to see.
I am loving the play, Anita!
Bravo, Bravo! I know you saw me in my bright red taffeta dress. I had difficulty sitting as there was too much fabric. Oh well, sometimes one has to suffer for beauty-hehe.
You know, That little dog leads a very interesting life. Tommy should only be that lucky.
Can't wait for next week.
Hugs,
Barb
Oh my....I planned my entire trip to enable me to attend....I'm so glad I did. I'm having a wonderful time, and actually got my seat front and center...can you see me applauding?
Can't wait to see more!
Hugs,
Spencer
Wow...Monsieur Balzac really gets around. Three lady friends, but after all...he is a canine or is he?
Although I cannot partake in Chocolate and Champagne, I will enjoy my almonds in the back of the balcony as the crunch might attract stares form the other patrons.
tootles,
bunny
what a marvelous time we had... I am sitting next to Bellamare. I am the one screaming in Portuguese - Bravissimo!!!!!!*grin*
I also came dressed just like your third picture below....1920's for sure! I shall return!*smiles*
This play is so funny ;) very good!
i agree with the Dutchess: it is not easy to rhyme...and the french words mix with the english ones...;)
Promise me that you will take your play to Portugal. I want to see it in Teatro Nacional D. Maria II in Lisbon.
You deserve the best one!:)
Do you promise to go there? :)
I will wear my blue velvet dress ;)
Bisous, ma chérie :) You are wonderful!
Hi!
I loved that purple dress.
Maravilloso post.
Bravo,bravo!!!

I am enchanted by the play, Anita!
The air is filled with the heaviness of perfume and excitement waiting for the next act to proceed. I am loving the roar of the audience tonight and at the end of my seat with anticipation as to what has happened to Monsieur Balzac... Until Act III!
xo~Tracie
(love the stuffed dog, we brought one very close to him back from Italy... did you get yours in Europe? They look too close alike not to be cousins)
Bravo!!!
Loved it!!
Next Saturday it is, if I'm awake after the big baby shower.
You are such a talent my dear Anita!!
Hope you have a lovely Sunday tomorrow.
Merci,
Rosemary
Oh me, oh my, what a sweet lil' guy. Misha Mae and Sadie Mae have their tails in a knot, wishing good luck to dear Monsieur Balzac. They can't stop barking about it and Misha is so distressed she is crying to the Paris moon. What in world will Act 3 bring? We can't wait! Misha Mae has started her eating doggie treat addiction again, in anticipation. Were going back to the hotel to say our prayers.
... beautiful post!
Tres Bien! Bravo!!
Monsieur Balzac is the cutest pilot ever! Merci beaucoup for my weekly lesson in francais! My boss is French, he is in Quebec. I don't dare try to speak it yet to him for fear of offending him! lol
But you are helping me dear, more than you know!!! lots of love to you, you talented thing you! xOxO
Utterly fabulous Anita! Charli and I are standing up clapping. What a wonderful performance. I suspect there may be an award some where down the line for Monsieur Balzac. We are very excited and looking forward to act III.
ENCORE! ENCORE! ENCORE!
I am enchanted and must have more.
Thank you for visiting my blog and notifying me of this installment.
Bonne nuit!
Anita... Mon Ami..So sorry... I am fashonably late again! First of all I just love your backgrounds and love the pictures you are putting in there and the American in Paris music is exciting! The audience clapping blew me away! Can't wait till next week!(not sure I spelled "ami" correctly...I took 2 years of french but that was YEARS ago) Obientot!~Patti
A very fine evening to you my new found friend. I had to zip over here and tell you the answer...YES, I am an only child and it was a grand time in only child land.
I've had the most amazing things happening to me lately...and you are a big part of it. I'm so amazed we found each other. Some day I intend to meet you somehow, someway...Do you have pen pals? Do you like to write letters? I love to write letters! Would you consider?
Cannot wait!
I have already selected my outfit for next weekend ...
http://buttercupbungalow.blogspot.com/2009/08/now-this-is-dress.html
If it is a coolish, rainy evening I will bring a stole. (Faux fur, of course).
I will try not to wear too much Miss Dior Cherie, but when I get my hands on that bowed bottle it may be difficult to resist the mist!
Bravo, bravo, bravissimo!
I spend an amazing time up here, what a thrill of a post! Thank you so much for opening the curtain for me a tad later. I cannot stop applauding! Oh I am so excited: what will happen to Balzac/Toto next? I have to grab my handkerchief and sniff a little cologne, otherwise the tension would be too much for me.
Well done, I cannot wait till next Saturday.
Have a great start of the week Anita, I just did!
What a wonderful blog. This is a place to come to when you want to be lifted up.
Renee xoxo
I just noticed that you ar a french immersion teacher. All three of my children attended french immersion schools and I can't even tell you how much being billingual has helped them.
Love Renee xoxo
My sweet Anita! I am so worried for our poor little hero. I hope there is a way to make him real once more.
Hugs!
Nancy
So sad I was unable to attend due to this blasted cold, but I do feel as though I was there. The review read so colorfully that I may as well have been.
Fortunately for me, I still have my new Lavender dress to wear. I suppose missing one act may have worked out as I still have the new frock and can't wait to wear it to Act 3.
Ahhh, the theatre, there's nothing like it!
How positively enchanting!! (If Audrey mentions her Little Black Dress is missing, change the subject. I'll have it back by morning. Promise!) ;D
xoxoxo
you are too cute.
sorry I've been away, if you happen to check in, you'll know why.
please pray for my niece, Greta.
Bravo, bravo, bravo, applause, applause! Can't wait for the next installment.
Stopping to say hi to a dear gal! Hope your week is going well! Blessings friend!
Amy
Bravo, Madame!
Hey Anita, I thought about you today. I went to the drs office and when the nurse led me to the exam room and I walked in, the walls were covered with those plastic stick on butterflies. As I sat there waiting for the dr, I couldn't help but think of "Poor Anita" and what would you do if it had been you, cuz if it was me and the walls had clowns, seriously, I would of walked out and asked for a different room...lol
Delightful! You always have such fantastic eye candy and Act II was splendid. I will have to make sure to return for Act III to see where this tale is spun. :> I've left an award for you on my blog. :>
Anita,
Your play is magnifique! Seriously, if you do not already write and get paid for it, you should look into it!
I can just see cette petite histoire de Balzac in a children's book. And that image of the dog in the little homeade airplane- vachement marrant!
Oh my dear Anita!
I found a seat front row center... What a delightful play!! What a fantastic life he leads.. I loved the video, you can almost hear what he is thinking as he floats along the water in the boat..
What a marlvelous play! BRAVO! BRAVO!!
My Sweeeeet Anita...
You write such wonderful stories... :-) I would, of course, love to wear the little black dress...and mingling?....but of course! I'd love to have a chat with you.
I'll be back for the final act...
LOVIES!
Spencer
