Why Am I So Happy When I've Got The Blues?
Follow me up these blue stairs and find out why this newly found favorite hue of mine just tickles me pink. It started as an infatuation, a twinkling embellishment to illuminate my senses
awakening a sense of calm to the larger scheme of things
and a dash of subtlety to a pure white canvas occasionally dotted with my old favorite, pink.
But let's get up and leave that behind for now my fellow artists and decorators
and look ahead at the possibilities through crystal clear prisms
onto a clean canvas
and sit and ponder over what is waiting on the other side of the door
a magic door perhaps
leading us to sit and discuss the possibilities with the experts
and to relax and enjoy ourselves.
And as usual, in order to enter into this frame of mind, one must pamper the senses and dab on a little parfum
envelope ourselves in the extraordinary
apply a lovely, little crown to help think outside the box
look to classic muses for inspiration
and of course, to nature
to help shape the art with which we make our nest on the outside
and within.
A beautiful house starts with a grateful heart
and becomes a home with the color of love.
Choose your colors for the season and have fun my dear queens!

Oh, Anita! Seriously, these photos are making my mouth water. The first five had me oohing and ahhing!! I'm not sure what color I love right now. I've always been a bit of a white girl, but that lovely shade of blue on that chandelier is GORGEOUS!!
Hugs!

Oh my dear friend,
Such a beautiful post. You know how I love blue. My humble little house is completely white and cream with little shots of soft turquoise. I'm in love with these rooms...which ones?...ALL OF THEM!!!...
WOW, 5 MORE DAYS!!! We shall count down the days together...ahhh you will be so relieved to sit back and relax, read, create, and dream.
Thank you for your love and concern. I am feeling a bit better, so I'm sure by tomorrow morning will be my old self again.
Well, I shall bid you farewell as I need to crawl into bed...I may not be able to chat with you dear friend until the afternoon as my day will start quite early...Know that I am thinking of you as your "handsome boyfriend" installs your lovely mantle...can't wait to see it...

LOVE that blue parakeet! And a bird that matchhes your decor? What could be better! :)
Blessings in pink and blue to you, dear Anita!
Anita,
I can no longer access my other blog (Theatre Du Boheme) for some reason...My dear gypsy, Arijonia started a 'writing' blog a few weeks ago, so I guess now it will become my main blog until I can figure out what is wrong with the other one...
Hugs, "Arijonia" ;)
This is one of those posts where each photo is so lovely you can help but nod your head while viewing. Thanks for the visual treat.
Bonsoir Anita! Just love the French interiors, but on the other hand...I like a lot...I don't think I have a (in the sense of a certain) taste! Our new room is pink and turqoise (a bleuish green), I just love it. Thanks for another very inspiring post, but I would love to look inside your house as well!
Bisous et à bientôt, LiLi
I would love to get those pale blue drops to add to my chandelier! Of course it is all gorgeous as always!

Bonjour dearest ~
such beautiful images! Each room is exquisite. I'm smitten with the blue chest and, of course, the pink sofa!! However, the empty room with the chandelier and bay window is my favourite ~ the mirror is DIVINE and I love the drapes! Oh, ma belle, how I lose myself in your photos. I could dream forever... That is a wonderul thing, isn't it?
Carmel is a fabulous place to celebrate your honeymoon. I hope your upcoming trip to California will be just as wonderful.
Wishing you a lovely weekend!
xoxo, B
This post is lovely! You've given me inspiration as I tackle working with the blue in the new kitchen:).
Blessings,
Kim
Anita my dear, you are such a gentle kindred...you make me smile, even when I don't think I can. This morning was so very early, and a bit stressful, as SO MUCH changed in the store...wasn't sure how I would get it all done. Thanks to the fabulous ladies that help me every week, in the shop, a lot of the change was accomplished before I arrived this morning. Still, felt SO overwhelmed, with things that could only be done after sold furniture was out of the store. Never the less, the store looks presentable and the day is done.
So, did your lovely mantle get a new home today??? Oh I bet it is GLORIOUS....Is it GLORIOUS???....Is it SOOO GLORIOUS??? I can't wait to see it in all it's G*L*O*R*Y. Well hoping tomorrow is a day filled with rest and relaxation for you...we shall have a good cuppa tomorrow...and a good sleep tonight...bonne nuit cher... ....xoxo...Rosie
Blue is not for me, but I truly admire it when it's done right...and these images are perfect. Serene and dreamy~
bunny
ps. I think I'm seeing you guys on the 26th...ish...let's hope!
My sweet Anita....
OH MY GOSH..........such beauty! I am crazy about that soft, yummy blue. My new bedroom and bath will be blue, but it's a much more intense shade...not exactly what I wanted, but I'm on a budget and it's what I could find...your pix are sooo much prettier. That was an awesome post. Loved those simple rooms.
Huggies and lovies,
Spence

Your home is lovely... love the touch of blue within all of the light tones. it must be lovely sitting there and readng a book.

I AM having the blues, too: bringing them BACK into MY home!!! This was JUST what I needed to continue the inspiration. Somewhere along the way I let my favorite color ~ BLUE ~ take a backseat color role in our home and now, I want it BACK! Especially when I see these gorgeous possibilities. Anita, you have such a way of drawing your readers in....like a mini holiday! I'm wondering how many of these images are from Rabbit Hill? Can't wait to get the tour in a few short weeks. I hope you had a weekend as lovely as this lovely post, dear friend!
xx Suzanne
Very French. Very dreamy. Very you. I love every single thing, including the bird. :)
It's so good to be back after a lengthy absence--reconnecting with my lovely friends and enjoying your wonderful blog posts!
Dearest Anita..... such exquisite images and as always so beautifully written. Thank-you for sharing this beautiful adventure up the blue stairs and into those gorgeous rooms! The chandelier is mesmorizing and I can almost here it twinkling from here. You will have to come by and see my website when it is finally launched as I have a chandelier stylized motif as my logo and I have twinkling sounds come over as the chandelier unfolds! I will be back for a cup of tea very soon!
That's why I LOVE TIFFANY boxes Anita and Breakfast at Tiffany's, and Audrey Hepburn.
My living room is a perfect blue. It's very soothing, just like your post today.
The little blue budgie was my fav : )

Anita,
Never a surprise that it would be beautiful over here at your place... I love the french blue 2 drawer chest I have one myself less embellishments of brass on it and I striped it down to a natural driftwood wood finish to give it that So of France look to it and a tone on tone feel to my homes decor.
It is posted in my last posting blow up the photo by clicking onto the picture and you will see some of the same detailed work on it.
Thank you for your fabulous comment to my post about my bird plates it's always a joy to here from talented bloggers like you!

Hello my dear,
I have been obsessing over blue-green this season so I guess in a way, I too have the blues.
This feels so magical. Your stories and images capture the imagination and transport me to another world.

Hi Doll,
Oh, I'm so glad you stopped by to tell me about Where Women Create. I had to flip through the magazine to see if the women you mentioned were ones whose stories I read. (I skipped over a couple)
Nancy's was one of them. Her work is sooo beautiful and I am inspired by the fact that she hasn't been painting that long! Good for her!
I didn't see Karen Harvey-Cox but there was a Karen Valentine. Her studio is totally gorgeous and her quote was "Don't let fear stop you from doing something that you love or that is important to you." There went that pinch in my solar plexus again.
I haven't read Ulla's story but those shadow box dolls are just calling out to me. (tee hee :)
Thanks again for popping over. Tell you sister-in-law I admire her work and was inspired by her story.
Hope your day is simply magnificent!
xoxo

Good Morning Dearest,
I left you a little Email.
Have a CHEER~FILLED day...
...Love Rosie...
Bonjour ma belle,
I'm certain that your vintage fireplace is EXQUISITE!! How I adore vintage pieces! I would love to see photos.
We, too, have a mix of colours in our home. I love light colours and my husband prefers darker tones. Fortunately, he is very easy going and let's me decorate as I wish.
I am in the midst of decorating our bedroom ~ mirrored furniture, ivory carpet and platinum tones. I'm still searching for the perfect chandelier and night stand lamps. A french chandelier is on my wishlist ♥ The one I purchased doesn't seem special enough.
I would love see photos of your Palais! I just love the theatre. I'm taking to Bella to see the St Louis Ballet's version of Beauty and the Beast. Each year we attend The Nutcracker and a Fairy Tea Party hosted by the STL Ballet. The characters visit each of the children and sign autographs. I quietly hope she will return to ballet in the future. She started taking ballet when she was 2.5 yrs and decided last year that she was no longer interested. She recently told me that she is interested in traditional ballet which thrills me!
Only 3 days left of school and you begin your summer with a wonderful trip to CA! I'm estatic for you. I just know it will be fabulous!!
I am doing well.. enjoying summer. It's thunderstorming here today so we are staying in, at least for now. I enrolled in yoga and a fitness class this summer. Otherwise, FUN is on our agenda!
xoxo, B

PLEASE tell me where I can get those beautiful pillows in pale blue with all the gorgeous flowers and urns popping off, on the settee!! Loved this post, thanks so much for sharing!! Blessings and birdsong, Marji
A famous decorator once told me that one of her secrets was to always put pale blue silk as the lining of her cream silk shades for a beautiful light and a wonderful look... it is a beautiful touch. Loved your photos.. that wisp of blue is just too gorgeous!
Dear Anita,
How did miss this marvelous post? Blue touches are so calm and lovely. Those blue crystal chandelier drops, the commode and those Parisian rooms! Ooh La La! My favorite is "a beautiful home starts with a grateful heart".
Your talent knows no bounds my dear!
Thank you for your sweet words you left on my blog!
Bonne journée,
Mimi

We are so kindred, it amazes! When we are to paint our big old chippy house it will be white with robin's egg blue shudders!!!! You are such a sister. I just love that color. It is serene, yet so playful. Thanks for the beauty again dear friend. Blessings.
What an incredibly beautiful post Gosh that pale blue and french blue is just amazing I could stare at those pictures for days and makes me wish I had another room to do!!! Sincerely, Jonny

ahhh...am sitting in my favorite chair, doing an awful lot of yawning. such a wonderfully busy day...my loving husband was off early, so we went for lunch and then perused another beautiful nursery. They are such a source of refreshment and inspiration. Spent the entire afternoon planting in and out of the water...so exciting...
well can't keep my eyes open any longer...sweet dreams...until tomorrow...oxox...Rosie
Hey girl! Thanks for coming by and offering me an opinion on my big window. I was reading ideas to my husband last night and he is not wild about any of them and wants to keep it just the way it is, mostly because it will be work for him but then he did have some valid points why some of the ideas would not work out because of the mechanicals involved....oh well...we will see. I wanted to tell you how excited I was for you and that marble mantle! What a guy buying that for you! I can't wait to see it! Nice summer project for you guys! Get some rest and you will be ready to create a wonderful vignette! Enjoy your summer ahead!~Hugs, Patti
Such a beautiful post!
I love having blue in the home, it is one of my favourite colours.
I love the blue and clear chandelier!!!
Warm wishes
Isabelle x
These photos so inspired me! I ran out and picked up some paint chips and samples in blues and yellows. But my motivation left me when I did not like what I brought home. Do I really want to paint this room?!?!? Well, now that I have come back for a visit I am getting all inspired again.
Stop that!!! (just kidding, yes, keep inspiring me Anita!)
~ Violet
Oh Anita, you are so encouraging.. WHAT PRAISE! Thank you so much for visiting. I never expected this response for my painting, but thank you so very much.. I do not consider myself a master by any means, but thank you!!! I really enjoyed this one.. Those little angels were a challenge because of their size. Other than that, it was a pleasure to paint.
BISOUS! Penny
Good evening Anita, My what beautiful images. they are so calming and beautiful. Blue has always been my favorite color. I also love any kind of crystal. It's so pretty and I love the way it picks up light and sparkles. I hope you have had a wonderful day.
Love, Carol and Charli
Ahhh dearest, you really know what those little angel need...second recess...I beleive the happy dance is in order!!!...we could also, celebrate your L*A*S*T day...YIPPEE...I shall crack open the bubbly, and we shall wander your gardens.
Oh Anita, who is this lucky blogger friend that you are off to visit...oh, I so want to be in her shoes. I even asked, my dear William, "how long it would take, for us to do a road trip, into your neck of the woods". We decided we would have to have at least 10 days, so we could take our time. So, who knows maybe some day it could be I who knocks on your door.
I must share, what a delightful morning I had with two dear girls whom are on my sidebar, the fabulous "rocketgirl" and the charming "Mrs cupcake"...oh, so very fun. Once again I set a place for my dear Antia, but alas, your tea got cold, and we ate your strawberry scone...I shall continue to set a spot for you my dear, because someday you are going to knock on my door, and I shall squeal with delight...someday...
well it is time to wish you bonne nuit mon ami...until tomorrow ...xoxo...Rosie
