Girls and Their....

There is nothing like a smart tailored suit to put a smile on your face

or a Norman Parkinson feathered hat

to put a spring in your step.

But if you don't have a suit, a reason to wear a feathered chapeau or the stamina to wear spiked talons, there is one thing that you can slip on for a brush with elegance and grace

OORBELLEN

BRINCOS DE PÉROLA

ANILLO DE PERLAS

PEARLS, BABY!

From QUEENS

to brides

and beautiful friends

Les femmes d'un certain âge are familiar with the glow

and aesthetic pleasure of pearls.

I have often heard my French colleagues say to a beloved friend, "Tu es une perle", to communicate the sense of, "You are a rare find, a GEM."

Diamonds may be "A Girl's Best Friend"

but YOU all are PEARLS, friends who are a rare find, of great worth, of everlasting beauty.

THANK YOU EVERYONE, who has

encouraged me

made me laugh

given me advice

have been by my side, virtually....

I celebrate YOU.

VOUS ÊTES DES PERLES

So now my PEARL FRIENDS,go out and be the rare and creative gems that you are

get some rest as well

and be sure to visit my rare gem of a husband at his blog, Rattus Scribus, and look back at his posts when you get a moment, to see what a burgeoning writer has to say about life and friendships; a rare gem indeed.

Hello Dearest Anita,
This is absolute eye-candy! So beautiful! I have pearls and diamonds, but hardly ever wear them. Guess I need to come up with more reasons to. :)
Thank you for your sweet visit to my blog this morning. I am getting so many questions about Tumblr, so I have edited the post with more information! To answer your question, most of the photos on Tumblr come from the web - just like so many of these beauties that you share here in your Blogger blog. I always include the source information (because the image should always include a link to the source!) and I use photos from Etsy, magazines, and photographers' websites.
Like Blogger, your Tumblr blog can be about whatever you wish. I just love cottage-style homes & gardens, so that is what mine is about.
Wishing you a very lovely weekend,

Oh! Thank you so much for the link to our Rattus. I've lost him along the way and so happy to find him again.

Being an only child has allowed me to play with imaginary friends when I was little. Then, I was confused, because my mama seemed to be the only childs friend for a few years. Then came the rabbits and the deer, and the gnomes in Fairyland. Cinderella and Little Jack Horner all seemed to add to my life. They were my diamonds and pearls.

Then I grew up...and a wide arena of women and men have blessed my life. And then...along came Anita. I was speechless. The women has completely wiggled into my heart...French and fancy she's added a twist that can't be matched and love seems to just spill from her and and and...and and...I'm grateful.

Pearls, pearls, pearls. I love them. When I lived in Hong Kong, my friend who lived two doors down from our townhome, would make them for me. Strands and strands of pearls from the Jade market there...all hand-knotted in-between.

Before I left for Hong Kong a taxi driver said that I was going to the Pearl of the Orient. My pearls gathered there were all the friends I found, and Maria's lovely pearls.

Nice de retrouver après la pause estivale.

Not sure if I would put myself next to all these fab women Anita... really... I just showed Randy your post & he said "see, your just as beautiful as all those women". I have to shake my head sometimes, and get the fog out-of-it. Not "feeling it" lately.
I have to tell you a story about pearls. My dear Aunty Maddie who's 95, gave me her pearls. She has Alzheimer's now with very very limited speech, so I asked and asked if she remembered when she got these pearls she had giving me, nothing came out of her mouth. Well about a month after I was putting them on for an evening out, I thought of lifting the velvet lining, and there, in her handwriting, was the date "1947" Birks ( kind of like your Tiffany's). I treasure those pearls with my life. Every time I wear them I think of my lovely Aunty Maddie.
Loved your post, and yes there are many special pears, and diamonds in the rough out there... and I have found one if you.
Ok Randy is waiting for me to watch a movie. It was a beautiful warm summer day today. We floated in the pool for most of it. It's suppose to turn tomorrow : (
Love You and thank you ever so much. I'm still shaking my head : )
Love Me

Dearest Anita ..... I LOVE PEARLS! I love wearing pearls as they always make me feel confident, ladylike and timeless as I think all women of all ages look stunning in pearls. I love your analogy of linking friendships to pearls and it is so true! There is a connection between all of us that transends distance and time. My grandmother wore pearls and she had her best set and when she put them on she looked like a princess. There are so many varieties ... rare beauties of colour, size and nature that shine with a luminescence that is rare and breathtaking. Beautiful, beautiful post ..... it makes me so happy to visit and see what you have created for us and who is that lovely lady in the pink dress and pearls! Is she a friend of yours? You must be the Audrey Hepburn and she must be the Grace Kelly! I am now going to pop over to Ruben's blog .... have a lovely Sunday! How is school? Thank-you my friend as always...

Sweet Anita... What a lovely post... YOU are the PEARL... What a dear chickie you are. And, Claudie... She sure fits among the queens, doesn't she? LOVE her. Little Miss Sunshine, for sure.

Now, that hat.. The one with the feathers? It can be pretty windy here in the northwest.... I might just take off, but it would be a great foil against the rain, I think. :-)

Why don't we "dress" anymore? I grew up watching Donna Reed and June Cleaver..... I don't think those ladies EVER wore pants, even to clean. I always thought that's how I would be when "I grew up".... You wouldn't EVEN want to see what I wear when I clean. It's just not "PURDY"... :-)

Popping over to see your sweet hubbs.

Huggies! And, LOVIES....

Hey There Sweet One!
How was your day? Thank you for the email...oh dear one you work so hard...and it takes so much out of you. Do take care of yourself, with a luxurious bath, a glass of bubbly and maybe even a well deserved, afternoon nap.
It is so exciting to hear that you are seeing results so soon! What are some of the differences with this curriculum in comparison to the previous one?
Well, today brought much more whiteness to my little workshop, in the form of a delightful little bench with these slender gazelle legs, and a creamy linen seat...yup...she is quite something!
Finally, painted the last two chairs that will complete my dining room set. These two frilly ladies will will join the original four.
I have wanted to finish these for about a year...so it is time!
Will upholster them tomorrow, as well as that little cane chair I painted the other day. Just being in my workshop makes me happy :)
Must help my sweet husband with the dishes, so have the best day...and enjoy those little cherubs...xoxo...Rosie

My dear, sweet Anita,
What special moments were sprinkled upon this lovely day for you, my darling? Are you sinking into a big fluffy chair with your pretty little toes in the air. I know how draining each and every day is for you, because you really do give it 110%...this is the way you are built...and why I respect and love you...when you say you don't fit in, I say this is how He wants us to live our lives on this earth.
We will feel a pull away from people and things that distract us. Even though we may feel as if we are put on a shelf and forgotten, we have been set apart for the call of God on our lives. It is during these times that we will find ourselves spending quality time with God as He molds and makes us into His image. He will build character in us, so that when it is time to go on the frontlines, He knows we will be ready. He will be able to trust us with what has been appointed for us to do. Jesus said, "Come out from among them and be ye separate."
II Corinthians 6:17
You my dear, are so special.

Oh, I am so excited that you will get to meet our dear, sweet Koralee. I could not live without His gift of prayer...it is my comfort and solace. Once I have handed over my concerns and worries {as trivial as they may be}, I feel a peace that is like none other. You my sweet friend are already on my prayer list...know that I will lift your cares and concerns to our Heavenly Father, and He is so much bigger than this...
I am so sorry your builder stood you up...once he gets started, it will fly along, I am sure...oh my dear I must run, but know you will be in my thoughts and prayers, as you navigate this crazy day.
So...chin up...smile in place...and away you go...knowing you are loved...xoxo...Rosie

' Just beautiful sweetie! My mom always wore a tailored suit, hat and gloves to church. Ahhhh, for the love of diamonds. Almost a year ago I lost the diamond out of my ring. Since it cost more to replace the diamond than to buy a new set of rings I'v gone ringless on my left hand. I must admit, my dear...I truly miss the sparkle! :o)

I just love droppin' by and soakin' up the beauty here.

God bless and have an incredible weekend!!!

Off to bug your Hubs...I haven't done that since your anniversary post.

I send you all the respite tonight and love I can conjure for you friend. I hear your call and know your stress and flux. You are in my thoughts and know I believe in you. Remember there are so many things to be grateful for, so many when you are feeling overwhelmed. Take on less, love more, breathe, breathe, breathe. Blessings friend.

hey there sweet one...
Did you have FUN today dearest...hoping this pretty day was better than yesterday. Just remember things will get easier as the year progresses, and you get familiar with the new process...don't ever feel inadequate...You are "oozing" with talent, but best of all, you love and adore those sweet babies...this is priceless.
You are going to paint the inside of your white bookcases TURQUOISE!!!!!...YIPPEEE....this will be stunning! I love that you are so brave. I always say "paint is cheap...so if it works... great, and if not paint over it."
Your weekend sound fabulous...enjoy it to the fullest...now, go forth and S*M*I*L*E...xoxo...Rosie
